Work Arrangements

The position comes with two sections of time release per year. This position takes effect August, 16, 2023 for an initial one year term with the possibility of an extension for a second year.

The Role

Reporting to the Deans of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) and Language, Literature and Performing Arts (LLPA), the Associate of Arts (AA) Coordinator supports and promotes the interdisciplinary AA program streams. The AA coordinator also facilitates the scheduling of GSWS courses and handles articulation requests for GSWS courses.
Responsibilities * Coordinate interdisciplinary AA programs: Future Teachers, Limited Enrolment, Asian Studies, International and Intercultural Studies, Gender, Sexualities and Women\'s Studies, Environmental Studies, Future Professional Pilots, and others as developed.

  • Participate in the recruitment of students into the interdisciplinary AA programs.
  • Provide content for the College calendar, information booklet(s), and the interdisciplinary AA program webpage(s).
  • Coordinate the admission processes for the interdisciplinary AA programs.
  • Respond to interdisciplinary AA program enquiries from students, and generally help to ensure successful program completion and transfer; refer students to appropriate Department Chairs for discipline-specific AA enquiries.
  • Collect and evaluate information on progress of all interdisciplinary AA program students.
  • Liaise with other post-secondary institutions to maintain and improve transfer arrangements.
  • In consultation with the Deans of HSS and LLPA, convene and assist chairs in regular meetings of faculty advisory groups for each interdisciplinary AA (minimum of once per semester), to develop and review curriculum, as required, maintaining program vibrancy and currency; review program requirements; develop student recruitment and retention strategies; consult on promotional materials, articulation requests and/or transfer arrangements; and co-ordinate course scheduling for interdisciplinary AA programs;
  • Write a brief year-end report for FECs and Deans of HSS and LLPA with recommendations for action;
  • Prepare annual reviews for the interdisciplinary AAs and GSWS program;
  • Liaise with Department chairs within HSS and LLPA to schedule GSWS courses;
  • Handle articulation requests for GSWS courses and requests for eligibility/inclusion in College credentials; and
  • Work with representatives of the DSU and instructors across the College to plan social justice-oriented events.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, organizational and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially with students, faculty, staff and administrators;
  • Ability to work productively and to deadlines with little supervision;
  • Knowledge of Curriculum Navigator, Tableau/Qlikview, and EDCO/governance processes may be an asset but is not required;
  • Knowledge of program planning and articulation models may be an asset but is not required; and
  • Chair, coordinator, and/or scheduling experience may be an asset but is not required.
