The Island Studies Program in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a Sessional Instructor to teach IST-6150: Public Policy in Small Islands - Fall 2023. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.
IST-6150 - Public Policy in Small Islands
This graduate course examines the determinants or causes of public policy in small-island jurisdictions. Students familiarize themselves with various models for understanding the causes of public policy and with selected frameworks for comparing policy across jurisdictions.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant should have a Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or area of study, preferably in Island Studies, or in a related discipline such as political science/studies and/or public administration. Those with a Master\'s degree and at least two years of teaching experience would also be considered for the position. Demonstrated experience interacting with various levels of government, working in a university setting, and knowledge of the research process and of island studies is preferred.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the academic unit.
