Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Facilities Caretaker (Casual) to join our dedicated and service-oriented Facilities Management team. Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Management, this individual will play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and comfort of Cochrane's facilities, offices, and public spaces.

This position requires a reliable and customer-focused team player who takes pride in delivering high-quality results. The Facilities Caretaker will perform a wide range of custodial and cleaning duties to ensure a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for all staff and visitors. Working both independently and collaboratively, this role is essential in supporting the Town's commitment to health, safety, and exceptional service standards.

As this position is a casual role, schedule will be flexible and will be utilized to fill positional vacancies, holiday schedules and increased demand in service. This position requires availability from 3 p.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays and, if required, 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. on weekends, some flexibility in schedule will be considered.

The hourly-wage for this position is between $26.11/hr - 27.23/hr and is under the Teamsters Collective Agreement

What are some of the duties of the Facilities Caretaker?

Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, clean and tidy areas, including washing of indoor windows and glass surfaces, following a pre-scheduled cleaning schedule; review and make recommendations to cleaning schedule from time to time or as improvements are identified. Clean and disinfect washrooms. Appropriately dispose of refuse and recycling/composting materials; ensure cleanliness of kitchen areas, and perform minor laundering of cleaning supplies. Operate cleaning machines and equipment in order to carry out custodial tasks. Report non-emergent building deficiencies to the Facilities Management Email Inbox, and/or call in any observed deficiencies that need immediate repair, to the on-call operator. Ensure that accessed buildings are secured and/or alarmed when entering/exiting. Perform special cleaning projects as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities



Education and Experience:

Required:



High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in cleaning environment.

Preferred:



Experience in a commercial cleaning environment.

Physically able to perform required duties Self-motivated and ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to understand and carry out instructions and perform manual tasks Good working knowledge of MS Office suite Excellent customer service Excellent time-management skills and ability to prioritize work Adaptable to changing work priorities Attention to detail

Alberta Class 5 Driver's License Clean Criminal Record Check Participation in the Town's Minimum General Safety Training program

Preferred:



WHMIS Fire Extinguisher Standard First Aid and CPR FOIP ICS 100
