Facilities Maintenance Lead



Under the direction of the Manager, Facilities & Purchasing; the Facilities Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the buildings, grounds and contents of Carefor's facilities in Eastern Counties including Winchester, Ingleside, Finch, Alexandria, Lancaster, and Cornwall.

The role is responsible for the efficient and effective coordination of site maintenance activities. The Lead acts as the central point of contact for actioning maintenance requests, maintenance schedules, vendor support agreements, site inspections and active collaboration on facility improvement and capital projects.

The Facilities Maintenance Lead ensures that buildings, grounds, and contents are maintained in compliance with Carefor policies and legislative requirements and are operated in a cost-effective manner.

What you will do:



Plans and maintains a cost-effective preventative and responsive maintenance program for owned and leased facilities, office and clinic equipment. Responds to and executes planned and unplanned maintenance requests, duties and tasks as required. Develops or maintains preventative maintenance checklists, on buildings and contents, including furniture and office equipment. Ensures completion of required inspections, tests and documentation of such in records, logs and other formats, Recommend maintenance, refurbishment and capital requirements, Oversees contracted external services, including coordination, monitoring and evaluation. Participates in vendor selection. Reviews, responds and tracks facilities services requests and ensures requests are completed within established timelines and quality standards. Coordinates activities with landlords and tenants, including projects and problem resolution Maintains and updates fire safety plans and inspections. Organizes and executes regular fire drills and site evacuations. Coordinates building cleaning, security and protection services and building access systems in partnership with the IT and administrative departments. Record and execute maintenance requests. Oversees office and clinic waste, recycling and bio-medical waste disposal programs. Coordinates receiving and outgoing merchandise. In coordination with site program staff, conducts regular building and contents inspections to determine and recommend maintenance, refurbishment and capital requirements. Coordinates space planning, furniture requirements, workplace accommodation and office moves. Participates as a member of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Ensures that all work is carried out in accordance with applicable accessibility, health and safety and privacy legislation, Carefor's policies and procedures, and all other legislative standards. Contributes and collaborates on facility improvement initiatives and opportunities at Carefor different sites. Able to support a flexible work schedule including evening and weekend availability for problem resolution after hours projects. This position requires a resourceful individual with the ability to deal with issues and tasks proactively and simultaneously, and a customer centric approach. Knowledge and ability to perform maintenance repairs, routine maintenance, painting and other tasks. Understanding of how equipment and systems operate Ability to read technical manuals Physical strength and mobility Demonstrated basic skills in general carpentry, plumbing, electrical. Assess and perform minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems Ability to use power and hand tools Troubleshoot issues and determine necessary repairs Perform routine maintenance on systems and equipment Inspect systems, equipment, grounds and buildings for issues Strong planning, organizing and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with internal and external customers and contractors. Ability to proactively provide effective, timely solutions. Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.

What you will bring:



Post-secondary degree or diploma from a recognized college or technical institute 2-3 years relevant hands-on experience in facility maintenance in a multi-site environment. Ability to deal with issues and tasks proactively and simultaneously with a customer centric approach Knowledge and ability to perform maintenance repairs, routine maintenance, painting and other tasks Skills and ability to perform minor repairs in general carpentry, plumbing and electrical systems Physical strength and mobility Strong planning, organizing and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with internal and external stakeholders Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. Understands and researches best practices, risk management, building codes and emergency preparedness for maintaining building systems and preventative maintenance Knowledge and experience with janitorial services, security and access systems, grounds maintenance contracts, waste management including recycling of office and bio-medical waste, HVAC air quality standards, plumbing, pest management, electrical and first aid stations Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation including the rights and responsibilities of staff and supervisors Driver's license and access to reliable vehicle Ability to work in a team oriented collaborative environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven effective customer service focus.

What we offer you:



The hiring range for this position is $54,639.00 to $68,289.00 which reflects the expected starting salary based on qualifications and experience. Please note, this is not the full salary range for the position. Opportunities for growth within the full salary range are available in alignment with organizational policies and performance.
