Position Overview:

The Facilities and Environmental Lead Hand oversees the daily operation and preventative maintenance of all elements of our buildings, grounds and equipment (excluding production lines) as well as environmental initiatives to remain in compliance with Environmental Management System (EMS) and ISO 14001. The incumbent coordinates repairs, enforces safety measures, and manages a team of facilities maintenance personnel. They will be responsible to prioritize and manage multiple projects to ensure deadlines are met, and coordinate and schedule repairs and maintenance with outside contractors.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

Certificate in Facilities Management, Environmental Management or related formal education 5+ years of experience in facilities coordination and maintenance in a manufacturing environment. 3+ years of experience in environmental management 3+ years in a leadership/supervisor position is an asset. 3+ years of experience managing multiple projects. Extensive experience with a wide variety of hand tools and power tools. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical and building codes and regulations is an asset. Experience in property management, fire safety planning, water treatment and environmental building services is an asset. Certified and experienced with operating forklift and aerial lifts Certified in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)

Job Responsibilities:

Understand and follow ISO 14001 standards and perform environmental activities (water treatment, recycling, maintenance, etc.) to ensure Environmental Management System (EMS) compliance, objectives and initiatives are met Participates in the Joint Health and Safety Committee Assist with facility expansions and new equipment arrivals and contract workers. Set schedules for facilities associates Maintain company real estate properties & dwellings Requisition materials and supplies Provide coaching and counseling direction to Facilities Associates Prepare and present written and verbal reports Supervise and work closely with contractors and third parties Assist with daily facilities tasks as needed Attend annual health and safety training including (but not limited to) WHMIS, and Lockout Tagout Perform related duties as required
