Job Description

The applicant will be responsible for working in cooperation with our horticulture and event production professionals, providing light maintenance & janitorial services for the interior facilities of a 10,000 sq.ft. tropical conservatory and exclusive wedding venue located in rural west Ottawa near the village of Carp. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys working in a positive team environment, yet works well independently, and takes pride in their work.

Daily Responsibilities:

Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors. Emptying garbage, compost & recyclables containers with the aim of reducing landfill waste. Cleaning, dusting & wiping all hard surfaces including: retail displays, furniture, countertops, walls, trim, glass, and fixtures. Clean & sanitize washroom facilities including: floors, toilets, sinks, mirrors, fixtures, tile, walls & trim. Replenish consumable supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels and soap. Maintain cleanliness of outdoor smoking areas. Wash, dry, and fold linens, towels, mop heads, and cleaning rags. Clean staffroom food preparation equipment, dishes & glassware. Report any facility or equipment damages to the Aquatopia Executive, and coordinate with other team members to arrange for timely repair or replacement.

Weekly Responsibilities:

Deep clean bar area including: floor, sinks, countertops, dishwasher, fridges, coffee machines, and bar service equipment. Deep clean freezer, food fridges, and floral fridges. Clean upholstery & shampoo as required. Check stock of cleaning supplies & equipment, and reorder as required. Service & clean all janitorial equipment.

Monthly/Annual Responsibilities:

Clean building superstructure interior including: steelwork, mechanical equipment, lighting fixtures, glass, window shaders, and permanent displays. Deep clean warehouse area & storage systems. Assist other team members with setup and cleanup for scheduled building repairs, maintenance, improvements, and renovations. Inspect HVAC filters and replace as required. Inspect & maintain building water filtration system. Perform scheduled plumbing systems maintenance. Minor drywall repairs & painting. Change lighting optics as required. Inspect & lubricate door hinges, locksets, sliders, and greenhouse ventilation mechanical equipment as required.

Qualifications

Must provide own reliable transportation to and from our facility. Excellent health & physical fitness. Applicant must currently reside in the greater Ottawa area as a landed immigrant or a Canadian citizen.

Education & Experience



High school graduate. A minimum of 2 years' experience in commercial building maintenance an asset.

Skills & Character



Self-motivated with the ability to work with a team, or independently and self-manage workload. Strong communication skills with an appreciation for accurate and timely completion of tasks. An appreciation for the creative culture of Aquatopia and our areas of expertise including: aquatic landscapes, tropical plants & interiors, and the wedding & event production industry. Focused and committed to the pursuit of excellence. Details-oriented and an ability to multi-task are essential. Excellent verbal & written communication in English a must. Ability to demonstrate initiative and a strong work ethic.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
