The Facilities Assistant role is to secure value for DynaLIFEDx through effectively completing preventative maintenance and repair of laboratory facilities and equipment for the organization. Through excellence in customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills this individual makes a difference by ensuring organizational building facilities and equipment are maintained in a timely and cost-effective manner. Major Functions and Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance and repair of laboratory facilities, including but not limited to, plumbing and electrical, lighting, bench, furniture, doors and windows,
Move and transfer laboratory equipment and furniture.
Maintain the warehouse and facilities shop in an organized and neat manner.
Pick up and dispose of waste material.
Monitor and record daily and weekly measurements and maintenance for compressed gas systems.
Provide feedback to client department regarding status, cost, frequency and turnaround time of repairs.
Demonstrate discretion and confidentiality in all circumstances.
Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, technical departments & Patient Care Centers.
Monitor and record daily and weekly measurements and maintenance for compressed gas systems, as required.
Maintain emergency showers and eyewash units.
Maintain appropriate equipment inventories and maintenance logs.
Adhere to specific department safety measures by following established policies and procedures when using equipment and/or instruments.
Occasionally transport chemicals and specimens.
Required Skills
Basic building repair & maintenance skills
Knowledge & ability to operate basic power tools
Basic computer skills
Strong initiative and ability to work unsupervised
Good written and verbal communication skills
Required Experience
Experience working in facilities and instrument repair is preferred
Experience in any of the following areas would be considered an asset:
Electrical
Plumbing
Painting and
Carpentry/Wood Working
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
A building maintenance ticket or equivalent is preferred
Must have a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and satisfactory drivers abstract
Other Information
This position will include travel within Calgary and Alberta as required
Please note that this position consists of an on-call shift rotation
Applicant(s) hired into this position will be required to provide a 5 year Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract as a condition of employment.
