The opportunity: Reporting to the Global Sourcing Director, the Fabric Manager is responsible to identify and advise seasonal fabric trends. He will also align and manage fabric development and assortment according to the direction of each banner of Reitmans (Canada) Ltd. In addition, he will provide fabric options and improvements to elevate the quality of the brand and minimize raw material costs. Responsibilities:

• Monitor competitive intelligence, fashion and fabric trends;
• Keeps fabric library up to date and relevant to all divisions;
• Guides the divisional seasonal fabric direction by providing feedback on fabrics in order to reach desired fabric goals;
• Establishes key mill strategy by fabric category, manages the mill matrix;
• Collaborates with banners to identify key core and novelty fabrics;
• Monitor raw material prices;
• Leverages raw materials to improve fabric costs while maintaining quality and aesthetics of the fabrication;
• Negotiates fabric costs;
• Partners closely with merchants & Global Sourcing department to follow up on projections to ensure timely booking of fabrics to achieve desired deliveries;
• Controls and communicates fabric standards, evaluates testing and technical specs with mill & vendor base, partner with Global Sourcing to makes commercial decisions related to fabric tests received;
• Investigates and recommends solutions for fabric performance issues;
• Supports the negotiation of fabric related claims;
• Partners with fabric team based in Hong Kong on all of the above.

Qualifications
Requirements:

• College or Bachelor degree in a related field;
• 7 to 9 years experience in fabric;
• Working knowledge of textile manufacturing and sourcing which includes: weaving, knitting, printing, dyeing, finishing, treatments and washing techniques as well as mill capabilities;
• Strong written and oral communication skills, understanding of the various partner’s objectives and priorities and ability to influence others;
• Desire and interest in implementing new trends, technologies;
• Bilingualim is required (French & English - spoken and written).
