Rowland Parker and Associates is looking for a full-time CPA with experience in public practice. We are an independent firm with our main office located in Ponoka and a satellite office located in Wetaskiwin. We take pride in our caring family like culture resulting in a low staff turnover. We provide accounting and tax services for owner managed retail, service and agriculture businesses. In addition, we also provide audit services to local municipalities, school boards and non-profit organizations.
Responsibilities
Conduct compilation, review, and audit services and related tax services for more complex engagements
Review, investigate and correct the accounting errors within our clients' accounting records during the performance of the year end engagements
Communicate with clients in person, telephone, and in writing
Participate in tax planning arrangements by assisting with the preparation of correspondence with tax specialists and our clients, and the implementation of the tax plan
Participate in new business development initiatives and government programs
Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and meet with clients outlining engagement findings, fact and highlights
Keep current with most recent financial reporting and tax laws

Skills and Experience
CPA designation
2 to 4 years of public accounting experience
Strong knowledge in ASPE
Experience in working with accounting and tax software programs and financial statement generation software (preferably Caseware)
Experience with Excel and MS word
Experience with agriculture clients is preferred by not essential
Able to work independently
Able to communicate narratively with our clients and colleagues
Motivated and a self-learner
Is professional at all times with clients
