Lexia Communications Inc. is a federally regulated and growing mid-size company seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant/CPA to join our dynamic finance team. The Role:


We are looking for an experienced Accountant (CPA designation required) to manage our core tax compliance and remittance functions. You will be the primary point of contact ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all filings and payments, playing a critical role in our financial health and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:



Tax Compliance & Reporting:



Prepare and file

monthly Canadian Corporate Income Tax (T2)

installments and related schedules (Note: This refers to monthly installments; the annual T2 return is still required*).
Prepare and file

GST/HST

and

PST

returns accurately and on time. Manage all aspects of

Insurance Premium Tax

filings and remittances. Prepare and file

WCB/WSIB

premiums and reports accurately and on schedule. Assist with the preparation and review of the annual corporate T2 tax return.

Remittance Management:



Calculate, prepare, and remit all statutory payments (GST, PST, Payroll Remittances - PD7A, EHT if applicable, WCB/WSIB, Insurance Premiums) accurately and by deadlines. Reconcile related liability accounts regularly.

General Accounting & Analysis:



Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures related to assigned areas. Prepare accurate journal entries and account reconciliations. Assist with financial statement preparation and analysis. Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting and compliance processes.

Compliance & Best Practices:



Stay current on changes in Canadian federal and provincial tax legislation, accounting standards (ASPE), and remittance requirements. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements in tax and compliance functions. Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors as needed.

Attention to Detail & Accuracy:



Ensure meticulous accuracy in all calculations, filings, and financial records. Maintain organized and well-documented work papers.

Qualifications:



Mandatory:

Active

CPA

designation (Canadian CPA).

Experience:

Minimum

5-7 years

of progressive Canadian accounting experience, with significant hands-on responsibility for

T2 compliance, GST/HST, PST, and payroll remittances (PD7A)

.

Technical Expertise:



Proven expertise in preparing and filing Canadian corporate income tax (T2), GST/HST, and PST returns.

Experience with monthly T2 installment calculations and filings is essential.

Demonstrated experience calculating, preparing, and remitting WCB/WSIB and Insurance Premium payments. Strong understanding of Canadian payroll remittance processes (PD7A). Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online/Desktop) and advanced Excel for Vlookup

Assets:



Experience working within a mid-size company environment. Experience with specific provincial requirements (e.g., EHT in ON, HSF in MB/SK). Experience with T4/T4A/T2200 and T5 preparation. Experience with financial statement preparation under ASPE.
