We are currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team full-time.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to join our financial team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services and a working knowledge of both personal and business income taxes is essential; training will be provided. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, client relations, and supporting tax preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update financial records using accounting software: QuickBooks
Process accounts payable and receivable
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
Prepare and analyze financial statements
Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings
Maintain organized and accurate filing systems (both electronic and paper)
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
Communicate with clients as needed regarding financial transactions and documentation
Prepare and file T1 (personal) and T2 (corporate) income tax returns
Advise on tax planning strategies to minimize liability and maximize compliance
Respond to CRA queries and assist with audits
Keep up to date with Canadian tax legislation and regulatory changes - training provided
Maintain organized and confidential financial records
Payroll
Qualifications:
Diploma or Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
. CPA designation is ideal, or working towards it
Proficiency in accounting software (Quick books)and Microsoft Office Suite
Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
2+ years of experience in Canadian income tax preparation is ideal
. Experience filing tax returns (T1 and T2 preferred)
. Familiarity with CRA regulations and tax filing procedures
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
