Job Description

The VCBIA is a non-profit society whose mandate is to develop, encourage and promote business within its neighbourhood. It plays an active role in business development, recruitment, and retention, and safety, security and street enhancement for the area. As a BIA, business and commercial property owners work together in efforts into economic development and growth in the area. The VCBIA represents over 650 business and commercial property owners.Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Manager provides leadership and direction toward the achievement of the society's mission and objectives. Acting as a liaison among members, the board of directors, staff, volunteers, government and other community partners, the ED is responsible for overseeing the delivery and implementation of all programs and services, including budgets, daily operations, community & public relations and events for the society.Responsibilities: Work with the board of directors to develop and implement the VCBIA's short-term and long-term objectives. Establish and assist committees to make decisions on allocation of resources. Monitor and reporting progress of projects. Organizational responsibilities include support and solicit direction from the board of directors through regular meetings (may include evenings & weekends).Plan and oversee daily operations of VCBIA, including reporting financial accounts, managing cash flow and budget with the board's Treasurer. Ascertain and maintain records of VCBIA stakeholder database and well as events and activities on the VCBIA website. Manage, train and develop VCBIA staff members, contractors and volunteer capacity to contribute to the mandate of the VCBIA. Liaise with and develop relationships with key City of Vancouver staff, elected officials and third-party suppliers to ensure needs of the VCBIA are met. Coordinate the regular publication of a timely and informative newsletter and other communications on a consistent basis and distribute to membership. Ensure VCBIA compliance of accepted business practices, contracts, government regulations, employment standards and bylaws. Act as a spokesperson for VCBIA with direction from the board of directors.Qualifications: Strong leadership skills and excellent written and verbal communications skills. Must be a highly motivated professional. Highly organized, efficient, resourceful, tactful and effective. Effective project management skills. Experience with business improvement associations, economic development offices or similar non-profit organizations is an asset. Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills. Chinese - Mandarin and Cantonese speaking is required.Skills and Education: Post secondary education in the fields of business administration, communications, marketing, community planning, economic development or related field and/or equivalent 3 - 5 years' work experience in these fields. Must be familiar with operating an office of business open to the public as well as the necessary personnel requirements for a small support staff. Strong computer knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Accounting and Desktop Publishing programs. Knowledge of Municipal and Provincial government structure and operations. Event organizing & operations, as well as marketing experience are assets. Knowledge in volunteer training and co-ordination an asset.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per yearBenefits:
