The organization\'s base of operations is in a central location on the University of British Columbia (UBC) campus in a new, modern facility. Hillel BC is a multi-campus Hillel that serves the , , and while also providing outreach to sn\xc9\x99w\xcc\x93ey\xc9\x99\xc9\xac lel\xc9\x99m\xcc\x93, , , and BCIT.

What You\'ll Do

Strategy & Vision:

  • Working together with a dedicated lay board, set the vision, goals, and strategy regarding Jewish life on campus and Hillel\'s engagement, programming, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Work to fulfill the organization\'s mission.
  • Inspire and lead strategy for offering a pluralistic, diverse Jewish life on campus.
  • Develop strategies to expand the Jewish student community, accommodating diverse backgrounds and interests.
Fundraising and Financial Management:
  • Develop and successfully implement a comprehensive development plan, including a robust major donor strategy
  • Provide financial stability to Hillel BC by leading fundraising programs and engaging with donors regularly.
  • Enhance Hillel\'s support base, including donors, through fundraising and other activities.
Staff Supervision & Development:
  • Lead a team of approximately seven professional staff members across multiple campuses throughout the province.
  • Serve as a mentor to staff, dedicating time to work closely with each staff member on personal development, passions, and career paths.
Stakeholder and External Relations:
  • Deepen existing relationships and cultivate new ones on campus, including with university administration, faculty, and staff.
  • Partner with community leaders representing various organizations to enhance Jewish life on campus and communicate the needs of today\'s Jewish students.
  • Engage alumni and encourage continued connections to Hillel BC following graduation and beyond.
Student Engagement:
  • Oversee a robust student engagement strategy that successfully brings Jewish students into the Jewish community on campus.
  • Recognize and adapt to the changing needs of Jewish college students, navigating campus climate and issues related to exploring Jewish identity in today\'s complex world.
  • Connect individually with students as needed and provide mentorship for their ongoing Jewish journey.
  • Ensure Hillel is a safe space for students and provides tools for addressing antisemitism and anti-Israel activity on campus.
  • Partner with other campus organizations to further engage students across various programs and platforms.
What You\'ll Bring to the Work
  • Experience developing and implementing a bold vision that supports and guides the organization\'s mission.
  • Fundraising expertise to raise funds while developing new revenue sources and maintaining and improving relationships with key donors.
  • Deep Jewish knowledge and background in pluralistic environments
  • A proven track record of leadership and experience in engaging and inspiring others, including students, staff, and donors, with an exciting vision to enhance Jewish life on campus, primarily in Metro Vancouver and Victoria.
  • Ability to hire, motivate, and retain staff, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  • A strong value in diversity and inclusion while ensuring that Hillel BC remains a safe place for collaboration and collegial debate on issues of importance to Jewish students and the wider community.
  • Energy and charisma to make an impact across a multi-campus environment.
  • A strategic mindset that carries your ability to engage, communicate, and lead meaningfully and purposefully.
What You\'ve Accomplished
  • A bachelor\'s degree and at least 5-8 years of professional work experience, at least 2 in a senior management position with demonstrated responsibilities covering human resources and financial management.
  • Ability to relate well to university-aged students, both undergraduate and graduate.
  • Fundraising and financial management success at other organizations.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Previous experience at a Jewish organization is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including managing staff and stakeholders with divergent agendas.
  • Team-oriented with leadership skills, a strong work ethic, high integrity, and a commitment to transparency.
  • Deep understanding of pluralistic Judaism and the ability to apply it to this position.
  • Proven ability to create and execute vision and organizational strategies.
Consideration of exceptional candidates with diverse professional experience may include business leaders, rabbis, teachers, and Jewish professionals.

What You\'ll Receive
  • Competitive salary in the non-profit marketplace. The salary range for this role is CAD $150,000 - $175,000 depending upon skills, qualifications, and experience
