Role: Event Support Team Member The Sport Services Event Team works collaboratively with the Competition and Event Coordinator to support the execution of the 50 to 55 competitions & events hosted annually by MNP Community & Sport Centre by ensuring all setup and take down requirements are completed. Hours: During the event season (September to June) - Up to 15 hours per week, typically Thursday to Sunday. Additional support outside of Thursday-Sunday will occasionally be requested for event support, as well as during the summer months of July and August. Reports to: Director of Sport & Aquatics, and Competition and Event Coordinator **Posting will close August 26th, 2022**

What You’ll Do:

  • Set-up and take down equipment for Aquatic and Dryland special events; this includes tables, chairs, stages, pipe and drape, stanchions, stereo system, and fitness equipment.
  • Set up and take down meeting room equipment for events.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the event package prior to the start of the event.
  • Represent MNP Community & Sport Centre as the primary event contact as required; this includes the ability to work weekends and some weekdays and holidays as per the event schedule.
  • Oversee equipment inventory during an event.
  • Ability to field and problem solve various last minute event requests on behalf of the Sport Services Department.
  • Act in a professional public relations role for MNP Community & Sport Centre in interactions with staff, event hosts, public and Sport Partners.

  • Must possess a proven ability to establish and maintain an environment of trust and empowerment, build working relationships, lead by example, plan and organize and work through conflict.
  • Must be a high-energy, ambitious and driven individual who thrives in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven track record of taking initiative and working independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to problem solve effectively in various situations.
Qualifications:
  • CPR C (recertified within one year) and Standard First Aid (recertified within 3 years)
  • This position does require heavy lifting and employee must be able to push approximately 75lbs and assist in moving heavy sport equipment.
