A Day in the Life of an Estimator at RWC! Be apart of designing your community! From the bustling downtown core all the way to Northern British Columbia you will be involved in championing our construction estimates across all of our sites including Amazon HQ, YVR Airport, University of British Columbia, Parq Casino, Emily Carr University, Willowbrook Mall and much more! You will be able to take pride in owning projects and seeing them come to life! We are looking for an Estimator with a \xe2\x80\x9croll up the sleeves\xe2\x80\x9d attitude who will be spearheading our construction bid process.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Review incoming tender documents, drawings, specifications, & scope of work
  • Simultaneously work on budgets and tenders as per GC requirements
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the estimating and pre-construction process, from estimate preparation, subcontractor solicitation, through to subcontract buyout / contracting
  • Conduct thorough analysis of tender drawings and prepare detailed takeoffs
  • Perform material & quantity take-offs
  • Work with suppliers to determine prices and material type
  • Simultaneously working on budgets & tenders
  • Setup On-Screen Take-offs (Winbid) files
  • Liaison with General Contractor regarding RFI\xe2\x80\x99s and Change Orders
  • Attend site visits to gather client & material information
  • Add specifics work on ceilings send to suppliers
  • Prepare estimate summary sheet and tender documents
  • Work in tandem with the project team during tender process to manage General Contractor expectations
  • Work with clients during tender process and complete all required revisions to achieve IFC stage
  • IFT / Handover stage items -budgets (discuss at handover stage access, material, labour, cleanup)
  • Intuitively be able to identify unclear details and rectify
  • Summarize & review proposals with the management team
  • Help with estimate breakout with pre-construction
  • Participate in initial handoff meetings, production meetings and project analyses
  • Time & task management c/w weekly reporting
  • Analyze and identify key areas of improvement to drive sales GP
  • Apply cost estimation techniques such as value engineering & building relationships with suppliers
  • Calculate costs by analyzing labour, material, and time requirements based on drawings and specifications
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and responsiveness with existing clients & General Contractors
  • Work in tandem with the project management team to drive project success through the duration of the project with scope clarifications, budgets and cost analysis
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Continuously update unit pricing & labour costs in partnership with accounting & finance
  • Perform post mortem meetings for completed projects to understand job profitability and how to create stronger estimates

Skills and Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education, diploma or certificate in construction or a related field
  • Proficient English language and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Resourceful, organized with an engineering aptitude
  • Building technology, and OST training and/or experience desirable
  • Prior work experience in the construction industry is considered an asset

The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $80,000.
