Job Description


Our client is a trusted adviser to their industrial clients, servicing manufacturing, automation, and other major electrical projects! They are looking for a skilled Estimator to join the team. This person is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of full-cost estimates and bid packages for projects, including pricing of electrical components, and communicating with suppliers for price updates/ availability/ lead time. This position is also responsible for reading and understanding tender documents, estimating labour hours, and booking time on the production planner.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, prepare, and coordinate full cost estimates for electrical panels.
  • Prepare materials, labour, and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out the project according to proposals, plans, estimates, and specifications.
  • Manage and control change orders.
  • Prepare quotes for materials for project estimates.
  • Generate project budgets and assist with change orders.
  • Review specifications and design drawings to determine the total scope of work to be performed, material requirements and associated costs to be included in the final estimate price.
  • Preparing bid packages, estimates, and analysis of potential sub-contractor bids for projects.
  • Determine cost recovery strategies.
  • Maintain files of working documents to be used as backups for estimate figures as well as maintain current and accurate information on supplier prices, price lists, unit prices, and quantity estimates.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to determine costs related to RFI\xe2\x80\x99s and extra work orders.
  • Assist in the preparation of studies, materials and methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required.
Qualifications:
  • JM Electrician certification or related experience.
  • 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in cost estimation and familiarity with bidding processes.
  • Accubid experience would be well-regarded.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to think critically and use inductive reasoning.
  • An understanding of controls, automation, and manufacturing.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and work well with other people.
  • Collaborative and customer service-oriented.
