NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK
============================
Operates a variety of light and heavy duty equipment utilized in construction, maintenance and repair activities; performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of municipal roads, grounds, and utility systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
========================
Operates a variety of light and heavy duty equipment of various sizes and weights, including attachments.
Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment.
Assists in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices and regulatory signage. Coordinates traffic control at work sites to guide traffic through work areas as required or assigned.
May assists in the training of other operators as required.
Required to perform some or all of the duties of Labourer or Utility Maintenance Worker 1 as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS

Demonstrated working knowledge and skill in equipment operation and operator level maintenance work. Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions.
Requires working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to equipment operations; ability to observe proper safety precautions and perform all duties in conformance to applicable safety and security standards.
Requires working knowledge of tools, materials and methods used in maintenance and operations; ability to read and work from maps and drawings. Requires basic knowledge of computers and mobile devices.
Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions. Ability to establish positive working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public.
GENERAL TOOLS USED

Tamper, plate compactor, saws, torches, pumps, compressors, generators, common hand and power tools, detection devices, computer, mobile communication devices, and other tools as required.

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR LEVEL 2:
