AET Group is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Technologist to join our team! This is a full-time, permanent position, with a competitive total compensation plan after 3-months (Health, Dental, Vision, Health Spending Account, RSP matching and much more). The position includes a mix of field work and office work. The field work includes operation and maintenance of various forms of environmental processes as part of a large-scale soil and groundwater contamination project in southwestern Ontario as well as environmental auditing and consulting. Office duties include data entry, report writing, auditing, and communications. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Fieldwork, including groundwater monitoring and sampling, surface water sampling, and indoor air sampling.
  • Field preparation, including ordering sampling jars and bottles, organizing field equipment, and preparation of Health & Safety Plans.
  • Office duties, including logging data collected in the field, tabulation and evaluation of data, and summarizing relevant project specific data.
  • Report writing and project\xe2\x80\x93related communications.
  • Administration, including work logs, correct and timely submission of timesheets, expenses, scheduling, etc.
  • Preparation of progress reports and communications via email.
  • Operate and maintain environmental remediation and mitigation systems.
  • Schedule and perform audits on Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
  • Support audits for other environmental standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform desk audits to ensure that the requirements of the standard and/or program have been met and provide appropriate feedback to client to address any shortcomings.
  • Prepare audit plans including scheduling and client communications.
  • Conduct on-site audits, determining conformance to applicable standards and programs by interviewing client staff at all levels; reviewing documents and records; conducting site visits to assess facilities and operational procedures; and drawing conclusions on conformance, including documenting findings.
  • Present findings to clients and prepare audit reports.
  • Follow-up on non-conformances.
  • Other duties as required from time to time.
Qualifications:
  • Mandatory ECO Canada EP Certification or eligible to obtain EP Certification at the time of hire, with a minimum 5 years of environmental-related experience.
  • Certification as a Lead Auditor (Environmental Management/Quality) or Management System Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor training is an asset.
  • Degree or diploma in environmental studies or related field.
  • Working knowledge of environmental management system standards, guidelines, and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of golf and/or turf management is an asset.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Posses\xe2\x80\x99 initiative, adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong MS Excel and Word knowledge and use.
  • Able to work independently as well as with others.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be punctual and dependable with a professional demeanor.
  • Valid Class G drivers license and access to own vehicle is required.
Physical Capabilities:
  • Day shift Monday to Friday, 8:30am \xe2\x80\x93 4:30pm.
  • Occasionally use the following equipment: forklift, company work truck, personal vehicle, handheld tools
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk.
  • Able to lift 20 kg.
  • Regularly required to work outside in varying weather conditions.
