our Opportunity
Stantec Yellowknife has an exciting opportunity for a Northwest Territories resident. We are looking for an Environmental Technologist/Technician to work at a remote mine site in the Northwest Territories on a rotational basis (3 weeks in/3 weeks out). The on-site work requirements will be complemented by training and mentorship delivered from staff in our Stantec Yellowknife office. Working conditions:
This is a one-year term position (to June 2024)
The standard work week while on site is 84 hours, working 12-hour days for 21 days, followed by 21 days off (i.e., three-week rotation)
Office work in Yellowknife may occasionally be required instead of site rotation

Your Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Environment Team Lead, job duties and responsibilities include:
Job hazard identification and control
Water sampling
Waste tracking and recording
Environmental site inspections
Sampling equipment care and calibration
Environmental data entry
Wildlife and vegetation observations
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Previous experience related to the job responsibilities
Working knowledge of the metric system
Experience recording measurements using different tools and instruments
Experience using Microsoft Office\xe2\x84\xa2 (Word and Excel)
Ability to follow procedures and sampling protocols, and to work safely and independently
Previous experience working at a construction site is an asset
Education and Experience
Graduation from an environmental technology diploma program, such as the Natural Resources Technology Program or equivalent. Must be a resident of the Northwest Territories at start date.
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Typical office environment working with computers.
