This is the perfect opportunity for you to provide environmental management expertise in support of the maintenance and construction of our provincial infrastructure in a way that is sustainable with minimal risk to our environment.About Our OpportunityAs the Environmental Analyst, you have a broad understanding of environmental issues that impact our Province and offer diverse technical expertise. Using your knowledge, you will prepare information for environmental reports, and track environmental concerns on provincial infrastructure projects. You will evaluate the environmental sensitivity of potential construction sites and inspect the adequacy and environmental protection measures being used.Additionally, you will represent Environmental Services in the planning, coordination and administration of complex environmental projects such as decommissioning sites of former provincial buildings, improving environmental performance of provincial assets, and provide support to either highway or building maintenance and construction projects, or manage consultants who complete this work.Primary AccountabilitiesYou will manage contaminated sites through the provincial regulatory process and will provide technical expertise related to regulated building materials for the purpose of renovation or deconstruction of provincial infrastructure. This position will also have you being responsible for leading the environmental assessment, screening or permitting (as required) of major projects such as the construction of highways or other significant provincial infrastructure or managing consultants who do this work. Additionally, this role will also have you participating in the development of operational policies and procedures, all the while ensuring compliance to federal and provincial environmental regulations and legislation.This Environmental Analyst position will also provide environmental advice while assisting Departmental staff and other government agencies and represent Environmental Services on project teams and committees. You will also provide support to all areas of the province with the unique challenges that arise, while achieving the Department\'s objectives.You may be occasionally asked to provide training and guidance to provincial government staff, public groups, and associations regarding environmental issues and policies which would include the development of learning materials.Qualifications and ExperienceYou have a Bachelor\'s degree in Science, the Arts, or Engineering and two (2) years of related experience with complex environmental risks associated with construction, operation, maintenance and possible remediation of provincial sites and infrastructure; or a related Master\'s Degree.You are up-to-date on current environmental guidelines and regulations which includes contaminated sites and regulated materials. You understand the principles of various scientific disciplines and can integrate this knowledge into a cohesive approach to resolving any problems arising before, during and after construction projects. You are experienced with the procurement process to hire consultants (or consultants) which includes scope of work development, request for proposal preparation, submissions evaluation, project awards and subsequent contract management. Familiarity with managing consultants (or contractors) to ensure timely completion of tasks is an asset.Proficiency in a computerized environment is necessary including spreadsheet, word processing, and email applications. You have strong project coordination skills to ensure timely completion of project goals and objectives in a fast-paced environment.You are a self-motivated individual who works both independently with minimal supervision, and participates fully as an effective and engaged team player. Consistently, you maintain a professional and courteous disposition and hold a high standard for client and customer service. You are an effective team leader, and your combined people and communication skills will promote an engaged workforce.
