This group plays an integral role in the success of the department\'s program and regulatory management.About Our OpportunityManaging and coordinating the department\'s environmental assessment (EA) process, you work to ensure EA reviews are conducted in accordance with the Environment Act and Environmental Assessment Regulations. This involves administering all aspects of the pre-registration, registration and follow-up procedures.Primary AccountabilitiesYou will provide advice to project proponents, other levels of government and the public on the environmental assessment process, and its proper implementation and interpretation. You will also solicit and coordinate the participation of the public, indigenous groups and government agencies at all levels throughout the review process.This position also analyses information related to the project on a range of subjects including technical, engineering, economic, scientific, and legal issues, and is responsible for preparing recommendations for the Minister of Environment and Climate Change as well as presenting this information and recommendations directly to the Minister who makes a decision based upon your report and recommendation.You will be responsible for coordinating the EA process in a manner that meets regulatory requirements, ensures a streamlined approach and clarity for business, and effectively engages internal and external stakeholders, the Mi\'kmaq of Nova Scotia, and the public.You will also communicate decisions to the proponent, government and the general public.Qualifications and ExperienceYou have a post-secondary degree in a related field (i.e., environmental science) and a minimum of 2 years\' related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.As the successful candidate, you have a general understanding of the principles of various scientific disciplines with direct experience in at least one related field (such as environmental science, biology, chemistry, or geology).You have experience in addressing environmental problems that span a range of disciplines and experience in project planning, coordination and management as well as knowledge of environmental impact assessment and mitigation methods.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound judgement and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment is key within this position as well as the ability to work with minimal direct supervision.Lastly, as the successful candidate, you will have great time management skills and an ability to balance numerous priorities.EquivalencyAn equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered.
