About the Role



We're seeking an energetic and dedicated

Entry Level Head Coach

to lead athlete U6, U8, and U10 development and training. This position is ideal for an up-and-coming coach ready to take the next step in their career--someone who is passionate about coaching youth athletes, fostering skill development, and creating an inclusive, positive team culture.

You'll work closely with the Board of Directors and coaching team to deliver high-quality, athlete-centered programs that align with BC Alpine guidelines and Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles.

Key Responsibilities



Athlete Coaching & Development



Plan and deliver engaging on-snow training sessions that emphasize technical skills, fitness, and mindset. Provide individualized feedback to athletes and track their progression. Support athlete participation in local and regional competitions, ensuring proper registration and preparation. Promote safety and inclusivity in every training environment.

Program Leadership



Assist with planning the seasonal schedule, training objectives, and athlete evaluations. Mentor assistant or volunteer coaches, fostering teamwork and continuous learning. Represent the club professionally at competitions and community events.

Administration & Communication



Coordinate travel logistics, competition entries, and equipment needs. Communicate regularly with parents, athletes, and the Board to provide updates and ensure clarity. Maintain accurate records for athlete registration, certification, and compliance.

Qualifications



Coaching certification appropriate to Alpine or Freestyle skiing (e.g., Entry Level or equivalent). Current SafeSport certification (or ability to obtain before season start). First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). A minimum of 1-3 years of coaching or instructing experience in a youth or sport environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with athletes and families. A passion for athlete growth and commitment to safety.

Working Conditions



On-snow coaching in variable winter conditions. Evening, weekend, and holiday work as dictated by training and competition schedules. Some travel within the province for events and camps. Administrative duties may be completed remotely or at designated club facilities.
Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 4.5 months

Pay: $21.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 25 per week

Work Location: In person
