Alberta Innovates is seeking an Enterprise Architect to take a holistic view of the data, applications, security and infrastructure used by Alberta Innovates to enable the IT (Information Technology) department to meet the organization\xe2\x80\x99s strategic goals and outcomes. The successful incumbent will challenge the norm of how things are done, implement change, improve business processes and partner with the business to introduce new technical solutions.

Job Details

This position will be responsible for maintaining a set of IT architectures (data, systems, security, network) and establishing an architecture function. The other key responsibilities are to establish and maintain a cyber security program, lead technical projects, and support the business\xe2\x80\x99s digital transformation. It will challenge the norm of how things are done, implementing change, improve business processes and partner with the business to introduce new business models.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Establish architecture as a function or program within AI\xe2\x80\x99s IT department and establish roadmap for integrating disparate systems and databases.
  • Create and maintain business application portfolio (infrastructure, function, information, etc.) for all business areas.
  • Develop and maintain architectural models of AI\'s IT ecosystem
  • Identify the relationship between core applications within the enterprise and web-based interfaces
  • Support digital transformation, cloud expansion, automation, and continuous process improvement
  • Manage the execution of projects, pilots, and initiatives, ensuring outcomes are achieved and timelines and budgets are effectively managed, resolving issues and preparing regular progress status/update reports.
  • Build and maintain strong business partner and industry relationships to understand priorities and maintain currency on best practices.
  • Conduct security threat assessments, develop, and communicate mitigation strategies and help to establish a permanent program to address cyber security issues.
Qualifications and skills we are looking for:
  • Diploma in computer science, computer systems technology, Information technology, related discipline, or equivalent work experience. A bachelor\'s degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years in-depth Information Technology experience in progressively more responsible positions
  • Broad knowledge of IT architecture tools and methods, and experience working in a professional Microsoft Windows environment, cloud, and microservices.
  • Proven ability to work with business unit leaders to gain an understanding of where the business is going and plans to support them getting there.
  • Solid foundation in system analysis and design, and application development and programming (SDLC)
  • Understanding of the agile methodology and function of product teams.
  • Digital transformation experience, focused on process improvements within the business
  • In-depth knowledge of packaged systems and how they integrate into the business, processes required to choose a provider and implement the solution
  • Strong verbal, written, listening and interpersonal skills to convey concepts and information
  • Solid understanding and capability to create, manage and deliver successful IT projects with a sense of urgency to drive business results
  • Ability to quickly develop strong knowledge and understanding of business needs and processes, and establish a high level of customer satisfaction and trust with a \xe2\x80\x9ccan-do\xe2\x80\x9d attitude
  • Certification in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Framework and The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) is desirable.
