: Wednesdays 6hours/week for 3 quarters (Sept.- Dec./Jan.- Mar./Apr.-Jun.)

ECD Team Leader



This position provides ESL instruction and co-facilitates sessions for newcomer parents and caregivers with young children, alongside play-based English activities for children and joint parent-child learning and information sessions. Also provide opportunities for participants to promote intercultural learning through arts and crafts; discussions on topics on cultural appropriation and racist stereotypes; and proactive strategies should participants be subjected to racism or prejudice.




Responsibilities and Duties:



Teach English as a second language to adults and children. Create, promote, and deliver quality cultural programming for parents/caregivers. Able to engage within divergent perspectives including newcomers, immigrant, refugees, Indigenous peoples and Canadian born with understanding and sensitivity. Provide outreach services to promote event and register participants. Evaluate and adapt curriculum to ensure effectiveness, relevance with program deliverables. Create a positive and supportive play/learning environment for children. Contribute to the evaluation and reporting. Shop and provide nutritious snacks to participants. Maintain cleaning of the playroom, furniture and toys. Utilize the Penelope Case Management Software to capture client data. Participate in workshops and professional training.



Qualifications:




BA in a relevant field or ECE License to practice preferred. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people. Experience providing parent education programming and co-facilitating groups. Knowledge of child growth and development from birth - 6 years. Ability to speak and write English fluently. Ability to work in a team environment. Experience with online platforms- i.e. Zoom, Microsoft Teams. Criminal Record Check required. Current First Aid and Crisis Intervention certification. Use of a vehicle maybe required.
