Position Summary
As part of the Family Programs team, the Co-Facilitator Parenting Programs delivers in-person, group-based family and parenting support through comprehensive programming based on the Parenting Programs curriculum developed by BGC Canada, which addresses:
Adolescent development
Communication strategies to decrease conflict between parents and their youth
Attachment and relationship-based practices
Developmental changes in Pre-Adolescence and Adolescence
Adolescent Brain Development
Boundaries and turning over responsibilities as appropriate
Self-care and Taking back your Life
Adolescent mental health
Substance use and teens
The Co-Facilitator delivers one or more evidence-based parenting programs, including Parents Together, Parents in the Know, and Parenting Without Power Struggles. They also provide community parenting workshops in response to requests from community partners.
In this role, the Co-Facilitator will collaborate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of group sessions, ensuring alignment with each program's mandate and the unique needs of participants. There may also be opportunities to work alongside other BGCSVI programs.
Position Details
Wage:
$22/hr (wage rate is currently under review)
Status:
Temporary part time, up to 1 year
Hours:
16 hours per week ( 8 hours program delivery and 8 hour program development)
Shift:
Program Delivery
Tuesdays - Online - 11am - 2pm
Tuesdays - In-Person 5pm-9pm - Wale Road
Program Development - in office
8 hours of flexible scheduling to be determined
Subject to change based on programming needs

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Co-facilitates parenting In The Know, Parenting Without Power Struggles and Parenting Together online and/or in person as planned by the Family Programs Manager.
Develops Parenting Programs as required by the Family Programs Manager
May be required to Facilitate groups as needed.
Plans parenting workshops, in consultation with the Family Programs Manager that meet community needs, as requested
Encourages healthy group process, provides guidance and parent education and supports self-care in a safe and comfortable learning environment
Demonstrates and consistently encourages honesty, responsibility, fairness and respect
Gives and receives feedback constructively and models active listening skills
Maintains/distributes a Monthly Calendar for all groups
Completes required tracking and input of pertinent data for quarterly and other reporting purposes
Completes quarterly/annual reports for parenting groups
Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings
Attends community meetings as required/directed by the supervisor
Educate and support parents to connect with appropriate community resources
Shares Parenting Programs information with staff and parents through the Agency media utilizing newsletters, web sites, Facebook, etc.
Arranges for guest speakers for Parents Together Program when appropriate
Facilitates co-operative programming within BGCSVI and with schools and other community groups and agencies
Assesses, evaluates and plans to prevent crisis situations whenever possible
Develops and maintains environments which are free from threat of harm
Demonstrates knowledge of safety precautions dealing with environmental working conditions such as potential verbal and physical aggression including a proactive approach to mitigating risks

Minimum Qualifications
Certificate in a relevant human/social services field
1-year experience in parent support and curriculum-based parenting group facilitation
Demonstrated knowledge of child & adolescent development
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of adult learning
Strong program planning and organizational skills
Knowledge of community-based resources for parents
Basic First Aid certification and CPR C
