What does your day at GIP look like? The position includes responsibility for coordinating engineering projects. This includes budgeting, funding and procurement activities for the engineering, procurement and construction team; scheduling, forecasting and project tracking; administrative support to Engineering manager for project and resource planning; management of department\xe2\x80\x99s digital records; development of standard operating procedures and process engineering. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for procurement and purchasing activities on assigned projects.
  • Responsible for inquiry preparation, purchasing, expediting, and commercial bid analysis, and invoice auditing for manufactured equipment and materials.
  • Prepares standard purchasing forms, including bid requests, material requisitions, purchase orders, change orders, logs, reports, and trending.
  • Responsible for support and guidance to engineering personnel on formation, implementation, and administration of purchasing contracts and procedures.
  • Responsible for the movementof materials and equipment from suppliers facilities to jobsite, and/or interface with site personnel and provide status reports on progress.
  • Responsible for creating schedules, forecasting capital expenditure and tracking progress on engineering projects.
  • Responsible for coordinating construction activities to complete engineering projects
  • Responsible for assisting and advising Engineering Manager with ongoing administration required for the engineering team
  • Review of current project management practices and implement standardized design and process engineering to become more efficient in execution
  • Management of digital resources included knowledge management and quality control programs
  • Provide detailed engineering support and completion of calculations/equipment sizing where applicable
REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents (including, but not limited to, specifications and drawings).
  • Must be competent with Microsoft Suite as well as Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to interact with engineers, designers, clients, vendors and technical resources.
  • Ability to negotiate and interpret contracts and to handle vendor conflicts as they occur.
  • Receives direction on unconventional and/or complex problems, and possible solutions.
  • Receives thorough review of completed work for application of sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to manage and execute transportation of project material from supplier facility to project location and interface with site personnel.
  • Ability to set up and run projects with supervision.
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with JD Edwards or ERP system would be considered an asset
  • Heavy industrial experience would be considered an asset
  • Engineering background would be considered an asset
