ROLE TITLE: ENGINEER, AUTOMATION DEPARTMENT: ENGINEERING REPORTS TO: SENIOR MANAGER, ENGINEERING HOURS : 8:00 – 16:30 Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering, and working within a diverse engineering team, you will be responsible for the implementation and operation of the site automation network. This is a key role within the engineering team to ensure that the site remains compliant with Data Integrity requirements for our electronic cGMP systems. Once the automation network is implemented, in addition to operating, maintaining, and improving the automation systems, this role will expand to include projects and enterprise excellence initiatives to improve facility and building systems, and support manufacturing initiatives. Your experience and expertise in plant automation will guide the site to implement best in class technology solutions and provide KPI data on equipment performance to enhance site operations. Responsibilities :

  • Lead project team to implement, validate & maintain Rockwell Factory Talk automation network
  • Collaborate with IT to create and maintain a highly secure & available environment for the automation network
  • Guide & develop technical resources to implement, troubleshoot and repair automation systems
  • Administer and upgrade Building Management System – Honeywell
  • Administer and upgrade site security system (card access, cameras, security server)
  • Lead & execute engineering capital projects
  • Use Enterprise Excellence & Lean principles to complete Continuous Improvement and Kaizen projects
  • Site SME for computer system setup
  • Source and identify suitable external partners to supplement internal activities & requirements
  • Investigate non-conformance events to determine root cause and provide effective corrective/preventative actions
  • Actively contribute to occupational health, safety, and wellness initiatives
  • Stay current with technological advances and solutions.
Education and Experience :
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a focus on electro-mechanical control systems (combination of technical education and experience may be considered as equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial automation within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Rockwell Factory Talk and Honeywell EBI software
  • Experience running technical projects within a manufacturing environment
  • Pharmaceutical or food manufacturing experience is an asset
