Office of Equity and Anti-Racism Initiatives (OEA) is responsible for providing oversight to and enhancing efforts related to equity and anti-racism throughout government.

About Our Opportunity
The Office of Equity and Anti-Racism Initiatives (OEA) is seeking two highly motivated, energetic, and dynamic people to join our team. We are currently seeking an intern to work on engagement & outreach initiatives.
As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to help shape, guide and support the efforts to address systemic inequity and racism, promoting diversity and achieving equitable and anti-racist outcomes throughout government having a direct impact on equity and racialized communities in our province.
Primary Accountabilities
Engagement and outreach are integral to the work of OEA. Reporting to the Executive Advisor to the Deputy Minister, you will participate in research and coordination of all engagement activities pertaining to the engagement team. You will research community engagement best practices globally. You will also support the OEA engagement team with internal engagement initiatives.
You will provide support in building and maintaining community relationships while helping to identify and foster new engagement partners and opportunities. It is important to be aware of the equity and anti-racism language and landscape.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have graduated from a post-secondary institute, such as a university, community college or recognised trade school within the past 3 years of their application.
As the successful candidate for the Engagement opportunity, you are a motivated and resourceful individual who is effective at building and maintaining relationships and partnering with partners internal and external to OEA.
Both successful candidates must value the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Successful candidates must also consider the diverse needs of individuals in your decision making while collaborating with partners and colleagues.

Additional Information
This internship will provide the successful applicants with full-time work experience with the Nova Scotia Government. This internship is 12 months in length. In addition to the work experience, the interns will receive additional training in project management, writing effective reports and developing their career.
