Traveling Lead Electrician – Electric Vehicle Service Equipment Spark Power is a leading independent power solutions provider to the electrical service industry across North America. We deliver technical solutions that help our customers transition to the grid of the future – Renewable Energy. The Renewable Energy Technician will travel to job sites around Western Canada and help build and maintain solar, wind, battery storage & electric vehicle infrastructure. The technician must be competent and qualified to work on electrical and/or mechanical components of Renewable Energy assets. What you'll be doing as a Lead Electrician for the Energy Solutions Team:

  • Follow all Health and Safety policies to maintain a zero-incident workplace
  • Work with a quickly growing mobile team, to build EV infrastructure across North America
  • Push for continuous improvements in our processes to increase quality, efficiency and reduce costs in our operations
  • Site work includes:
    • Read blueprints and spec sheets including single line diagrams
    • Install underground conduit – both primary and secondary
    • Wire electric vehicle chargers
    • Land wires and terminate on switchgear, CT cabinets and meters
    • Understand NEC codes including article 250
    • Proficient with both AC and DC wiring
    • Be able to perform megger tests, arc fault tests, ground fault tests
    • Basic site work (shovel, rake, etc.)
    • Be familiar with torque wrenches and specs as required by manufacturer
    • Familiar with single and 3 phase systems
    • Familiar with Cat5, Cat6 cables and terminations
  • Be able to interact with electrical and building inspectors as required
  • Daily digital reporting and documentation of all work performed
  • Identify and provide feedback to issues and ongoing development of projects
  • Willing to work overtime as needed

  • Digital literacy (proficiency with mobile apps and various software: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Report writing)
  • Electrical & mechanical aptitude and experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work with a team mentality and liaise with customers to ensure quality of service
  • Traveling position, with scheduled rotations to projects across the U.S.A. & Canada
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Firm commitment to safety
  • Be a believer in renewable energy
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education with an electrical or mechanical base is an asset
  • Provincial Journeyman license an asset
  • Operating experience (telehandler, fork lift, Skidsteer and Mini excavator) is an asset
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record
  • Must be able to lift 34kg (75lb)
  • Ability to work at heights with good ergonomics, work may take place on ladders, platforms, and cramped spaces with constant standing and kneeling.
  • Able to determine color codes
  • Work in adverse weather conditions and extreme temperatures
