Volta Energy Solutions Canada Inc., based at our Granby plant, currently under construction, is a new division of the global leader, Solus Advanced Materials Co., Ltd., established in 7 countries around the world. Our division, targeting the North American market, will manufacture high-end, compact and high-performance battery copper foil used to increase the mileage of electric cars.

JOB SUMMARY

As an Environment, Health-Safety (EHS), Manager, Reporting to the EHS Director of our new plant in Granby, your mission will be to work on the planning and execution of the EHS operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate level of security for company units and plant operations. You will act as a resource person in the field of health and safety, as well as in terms of environmental protection. You will develop programs and controls to ensure that all plant activities and equipment comply with legal requirements and additionally meet world-class environmental, health and safety (EHS) standards. You will participate in the implementation and maintenance of EHS operations guided by policies established and in collaboration with various experts within the organization and with external contractors. You will demonstrate your ability to mobilize project stakeholders to optimize EHS solutions, procedures and practices while ensuring that end results meet established standards (quality, volume, timeliness, etc.) and comply with policy requirements and to laws and regulations.

MAIN TASKS DESCRIPTION

  • Participate in the development of an EHS regulatory system in accordance with ISO 14001 &
45001;
  • Implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local & state rules and regulations
as they apply to the organization\'s operations. Contribute to Develop a policy for EHS inspections;
  • Monitor performance on safety and health regulations and propose priority goals and
development activities;
  • Ensure timely Safety equipment inspection (Audit) whether internally or externally by contractors;
  • Support industrial health & safety management (check workspace environment, health checkup,
etc.);
  • Perform fire protection and hazardous material management by audit checkup;
  • Recommendations on the improvement of factory safety and participate in accident analysis to
avoid recurrence;
  • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks
raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices for employees;
  • Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to managers and employees on
safety initiatives and necessary changes to adopt;
  • Implement and maintain employee training programs as indicated by regulatory guidelines,
hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment;
  • Gathering & Recording the incident data, reporting the incident internally (EHS leader, HR dpt.);
  • Conducte preventive activities and programs to sensitize employees and avoid Incidents across
the organization;
  • Fill out the documents and reports requested by the EHS leader and by the coporate
management;
  • Ensure all other tasks related to the fonction.
RESPONSIBILITY AND COMPLIANCE
  • Comply with the corporate legal rules and safety procedures of the company;
  • Ensure the standards are maintained in a process-driven environment;
  • Encourage and facilitate the emergence and representation of Volta values and expected
behaviors within the company.

TRAINING AND REQUIREMENT:

Education
  • University or college degree completed in a relevant field (Environment, Health & Safety, etc.)
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experiences in a similar position
o Environment management, construction, and industrial safety Experiences related to fire
protection/hazardous material management;
o Experience developing, implementing, and/or optimizing EHS practices in a manufacturing
environment.
o Experience developing, implementing, and/or optimizing EHS practices in a technology
development environment.

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of standards: ISO / TS 16949, ISO 14001 & 45001 ;
  • General EHS knowledge (Environment construction/industrial safety management);
  • Good Knowledge related to EHS / Environment Permit
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulation in Quebec
Skills
  • Fluency in French and English is mandatory (verbal and written);
  • Good computer skills in a Windows environment;
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels within the
organization and with external stakeholders and ability to interact within a multi-disciplinary team;
