Support Staff Full-time New Position (First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements) The Endpoint Operations Technician is responsible for the deployment and maintenance of software packages using standardized practices utilizing all resources available. The incumbent will provide support for incident resolution and request fulfilment that is customer focused and is aligned with ITSM and ITIL best practices. Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will work on-site five days per week, with the ability to work rotating shifts, and overtime when needed to address issues, problems, or projects. Responsibilities:
  • Responding in a timely and professional manner to meet the software requirements in academic delivery
  • Evaluating and recommending the installation and continuous optimization/securing of operating systems and software applications
  • Deploying software images for all enterprise-wide computing resources utilizing various software maintenance tools
  • Ensuring software packages are updated in coordination with academic requests accommodating service delivery schedules
  • Deploying hardware and software updates for faculty and staff as part of the overall upgrade cycle for computer lab refresh
  • Providing customer service and support via phone, email, chat, instant messaging, or in-person to users who need help with their technology, applications, printers / multi-function devices, or mobile devices, including repair or replacement
  • Coordinating with software vendors & external resources in the resolution of various software anomalies
  • Updating documentation and web-resources regularly to ensure accurate software representation
  • Assisting in corrective measures during network integrity breach events
  • Adhering to all security best practices for operational support and privileged access rights
  • Travelling to various locations as required


Qualifications:
  • Two-year Diploma in Electronics, Technology, or an Information Technology field
  • Two years of experience supporting and deploying software utilizing Microsoft endpoint technologies
  • Fundamental knowledge of various Operating Systems & software applications
  • Well developed analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills to identify problems, determine possible solutions, and select the appropriate action
  • Good communications and public relations skills
  • Experience with industrial automation software installation and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good planning and organizational skills to establish and adjust priorities
  • Ability to travel to various locations as required
