NOTE: Fieldwork (GTA Central, Vaughn to waterfront, west of DVP to Dixie area)

ROLE: Network Operations Technician
This position is located and to service the GTA Central area.

Scope of work is related Network Expansion/ Commissioning activities to support Field Operations including call testing, E911 call testing 5G. acceptance inspections of new build and uplift projects, Cisco insertion, Microwave hot cut.DAY TO DAY: Inspections of installs, create reports, call testing, site inspections, etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key Responsibilities/Job Functions:This position is located and to service the GTA
Main scope of work is related to the Network Expansion ; Commissioning activities to support Field Operations; including call testing, E911 call testing 5G, acceptance inspections of new build and uplift projects, Cisco insertion, Microwave hotc ut Added Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement work orders associated with the latest 5G projects, uplift and modernization, transport while respecting customer service and live network facilities
  • In depth knowledge of key quality service indicators on microwave and transmission equipment, optical fibre,
TCP/IP
  • Perform acceptance tests on newly installed sites and equipment to ensure results meet design specifications
  • Perform in-building walk testing and investigate/isolate UL RSSI interference issues
  • Administrative: reporting of mileage, timesheet, expenses, Site acceptance 1023
  • Shift work/overtime
Qualifications:
  • Diploma/Certificate in Electronics from a technical institute or equivalent work experience (or equivalent wireless experience)
  • Travel is required 100% of the time within your own area
  • Strong RF and fibre background
  • Demonstrated investigative, problem solving, analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Must possess a valid Ontario driver's license and have a good driving record (and own vehicle)
  • Able to work evenings and weekends when required (based on a 37.5 hour work week)
NICE TO HAVE:
  • Technical telecommunications experience supporting network elements would be an asset
  • Optical fibre, SONET OC3/12/48/192, knowledge of TCP/IP/ethernet would be an asset
  • Microwave and transmission experience would be beneficial e.g. DS1, DS3
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong individual contributor and team player
