JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Supervisor - EMR Services, the EMR Analyst will support as a subject matter expert in all aspects of the Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and associated systems. This includes design and customization, training and implementation, reporting, system maintenance and quality assurance.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)/ Project Management:

  • Gathering, organizing, and evaluating relevant information, such as current clinical workflows and current system specifications.
  • Communicating with internal stakeholders and conducting interviews as necessary to understand current practices and how they will translate into new workflows and/or new system(s).
  • Communicating with external software vendors to ensure a seamless end user experience.
  • Assisting with project management at multiple stages, including the research, testing and implementation of new workflows and/or systems.
  • New Site Implementation/Incoming Data Migration and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Management of Outgoing Migration Process, Communications and Timelines.
Team Member Training:
  • Creation of training plans for use in the training of individuals and teams both virtually and in person.
  • Training and implementation of new features and additions to the EMR system(s).
Administrative/Reporting Duties:
  • Complex report creation, management, scheduling and distribution for various teams.
  • Creation of a quality assurance program for use with the new workflows and/or new system(s).
  • Creation and management of custom templates for use within the EMR and related systems.
  • Running Test Scenarios on Upcoming Releases of Software; Defect Reporting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Clinical and technical experience, including familiarity with both staff & physician workflows in a primary care setting as it applies in the EMR and the patient experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of TELUS EMRs and QHR (Accuro) experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with Virtual Care Platforms including TELUS Virtual Visits, Pomelo Virtual Visits is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with Online Booking Platforms (Pomelo or other), is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Adaptable and willing to learn new skills.
  • Must be able to establish effective working relationships with all levels of the organization internally and vendors externally.
  • Must be comfortable providing technical training in a virtual and classroom setting.
  • Solution minded and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Project Management Methodology and Change Management Experience is an asset.
  • Experience with IT hardware, operating systems and general applications is an asset.
Education/ Certifications
  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related field, or relevant work experience.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to work in a fast paced, high pressure and complex technical environment that requires attention to detail. Incumbent may sit at a computer, view a computer monitor, and use a telephone headset for extended periods of time. May be required to work unconventional hours, weekends, holidays, late nights, or early mornings. Able to employ professionalism, patience and self-control in responding to escalated situations. May be require travel to clinics and offices as needed to provide training and support. Occasional/ Rare moderate to heavy lifting while transporting objects, such as computers, network equipment and servers. May be required to provide after-hours support for security events. Must be able to pass government mandated security screenings.
