Established in 1993, Y Newcomer Connections is a leading immigrant settlement centre focused on creating connections that will transform our community into a lasting, healthy home for immigrants from around the world and from all walks of life.The OpporunityAs an Employment Liaison with YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick, you\'ll provide crucial support to newcomer clients as they embark on their pre-employment journey. Collaborating closely with our team and service providers, you\'ll ensure our programs effectively meet clients\' diverse needs. Additionally, you\'ll facilitate access to vital services like employment counseling and local career pathways.Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized pre-employment coaching and follow-up sessions.
  • Assist newcomer job seekers in developing action plans for returning to work.
  • Help clients create job search documents like resumes and cover letters.
  • Refer clients to relevant workshops and programs.
  • Manage case loads, track progress, and provide job coaching.
  • Collaborate with team leads to set and manage client employment goals.
  • Conduct pre-employment workshops and orientations.
  • Refer clients to external partners for assessments and counseling services.
  • Stay updated on accreditation processes and licensure pathways.
  • Assist clients in applying for financial support programs.
  • Conduct outreach activities with potential employers.
  • Maintain client records in our CRM database.
  • Stay informed about training opportunities and labor market trends.
  • Collaborate with community service providers.
Skills and Qualifications
  • A bachelor\'s degree or college diploma in employment coaching, career development, or any related fields. OR prior work experience in this field is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in a cross-cultural environment
  • Heightened sensitivity to the needs of our newcomer clients
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
  • In-depth knowledge of and advanced user status of MS Office products
  • Adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges
  • Confident presentation skills
  • Approachable and possessing a client-centric solid attitude
  • Heightened sensitivity to the needs of our newcomer clients, especially youth
  • Ability and willingness to maintain flexible work hours, including occasional evening & weekend work.
  • Must be fluent in the English language; ability to speak French and/or Arabic is an asset.
