We're looking for an

Employment Counsellor

who shares our belief that inclusion isn't just possible--it's powerful. In this role, you'll walk alongside job seekers as they explore career goals, gain confidence, and secure meaningful employment. You'll also build connections with inclusive employers and help create long-term success for everyone involved.

What You'll Do



Build strong, positive relationships with job seekers, employers, and community partners Promote inclusive hiring practices and represent SMART Options in the community Support individuals with resume writing, interview preparation, and job search planning Provide on-the-job coaching that encourages skill-building, confidence, and independence Collaborate with a supportive team to share insights, ideas, and celebrate wins Maintain accurate, organized documentation Use your own vehicle for local travel with job seekers Be available for flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends Assist in creating in-house social media content to highlight success stories and community impact Use tools such as Google Workspace, Canva, and similar digital platforms (familiarity with ShareVision is an asset but not required)

What You Bring



Diploma or degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education, or a related field
(Equivalent lived or professional experience will also be considered)

Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Adults & Children) Valid BC Class 5 driver's license, reliable vehicle, and insurance (required) First Aid certification - Working With Vulnerable Populations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills grounded in empathy, accessibility, and respect Strong organizational and time management abilities A genuine passion for disability inclusion and person-led support Comfort using new tools and technologies Knowledge of Kamloops and local employers is an asset A strong cultural fit: someone who thrives in a people-first, collaborative environment and believes in strengths-based, person-led support
