Full-Time Specialized Caregiver

Overview


We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver to join our team. The successful Candidate will provide essential assistance to a male individual with diverse abilities, ensuring their comfort and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in caregiving and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in the life of the person being supported.

Overall Responsibility:

Providing 24-hour in-home, personalized support to a male with diverse abilities living in a downtown apartment.

Employment Type:

Full-Time, 24-hour shifts; 4 days on 3 daysoff.

Schedule:

Monday morning to Friday morning- 24 hour shifts.

24-hour Shifts:

This position is considered a "Live-In" position as per the BC Employment Standards Act. Support Workers are not expected to be awake throughout the entire shift and are provided a staff room/bed to sleep in. However, if the individual required assistance overnight, the support worker would be expected to provide essential support when needed.

Training:

Person specific training is provided, however, applicants must be comfortable providing full personal care to adults and, be able to support someone who can struggle with anxiety and requires support managing his day to day needs.

The successful candidate must be comfortable providing support with and managing diabetes (ex. taking the individual's blood sugar and injecting insulin). Full training is provided so no prior experience with this is required.

Compensation:

IMLKS offers competitive wages and benefits, covers meals during shifts and mileage is reimbursed upon submission.

Vehicle use is reimbursed tax-free on a monthly basis at a rate of $0.61 per KM.

Key Areas of Responsibility:


As a Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

Assisting an individual with daily living activities, including personal hygiene and grooming. Assist the individual to maintain the household with housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, doing the dishes etc. Grocery shopping and meal preparation. Offering companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for the individual. Supporting the individual with mobility and transportation needs, including accompanying them to appointments. Administering medications as prescribed and monitoring health conditions. Maintaining a clean and safe living environment for the individual. Assisting with specialized care for the individual dependent on their specific needs. Collaborating with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs. Aid with activities of daily living, community involvement and medical appointments. Support the individual to achieve their goals and pursue their leisure activities such as by planning and attending community activities. Empower the individual's abilities while promoting their independence and socially valued roles Supporting the individual with their daily exercise and physical activities.

Skills and Attributes:



Previous experience in caregiving, nursing home settings, or similar roles is preferred but not required. Experience providing personal care and/or medical care is preferred but not required. Job Requirements:



Valid First Aid Certificate

Can be obtained during training period*
Clear Criminal Record check Processed within our office
Medical clearance form (completed by physician within first month of employment) TB test (to be completed within first month of employment) Valid Driver's License Safe, reliable Vehicle that can be used for work (non-negotiable) Safe driving history

Must be able to commit to the 24-hour shift rotation for a minimum of one year*
