Job Overview
The Employer Relations Specialist role works directly with employers\xe2\x80\x99 clients in one-on-one and group-based environments. Clients will be able to access the full range of employment topics and services (labour market/, career research, job search, job readiness and industry insights workshops) and will increase their\xe2\x80\x99 skills, social and professional networks. SVNH is committed to serving all newcomers living in South Vancouver catchment and hence we are committed to conduct outreach to our partners\xe2\x80\x99 sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with Career Advisor, Settlement and Community team to understand clients\xe2\x80\x99 needs and
occupational goals and implement strategies to secure employment.
Maintain and monitor client progress to successful job attachment outcome by building a strong rapport with
clients and employers.
Develop an ongoing relationship with employers and maintain an excellent working knowledge of local
employment opportunities
Coordinate employer engagement events, such as job fairs, industry presentations,
work site visits, informational interviews; job fairs, volunteer, and work experience opportunities.
Facilitate Work Experience Placement for eligible clients and provide on-site job coaching to clients as needed.
Outreach and builds and maintains positive relationships with prospective employers, resource persons, and
other relevant organizations. Keeps abreast of developments in the local labor market and trends in the employment/career counselling area.
Play a key role in executing a social media strategy for enhancing our online presence and driving employer
engagement!
Maintains necessary records and prepares accurate and timely narrative/statistical data for program reporting
purposes. Evaluate and keep records of client profiles and key statistics including input into government required iCare database system, including intake forms, narrative, and statistical reports
Post secondary education in marketing, human resources, community support, multicultural work, or
related field in combination with experience in the field.
Career Development Practitioner certified and social media training an asset;
Minimum 2 years experience working with immigrants and refugees in a multicultural environment
Direct experience in employer engagement, coaching clients, connecting clients to employment
opportunities
Track record of effective relationship building with various clients and community partners
Experience working with vulnerable clients facing multiple barriers
Proficiency in a second language will be considered an asset.
Excellent inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills.
Experience providing customer service and resolving issues both in person and in a virtual service delivery
environment.
Must be flexible, respectful, and able to work co-operatively in a team environment - attend staff
meetings/retreats/ training that strengthens collaboration.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook,
Teams, and databases.
Tactful, quick learner, diplomatic, patient, flexible and possesses cultural sensitivity and excellent
judgement in decision-making.
A Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License would be considered an asset.
Employment Terms
Start date: June 6; 2024
Pay rate: $30.04-32.85 per hour depending on experience
Schedule: 17.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday with occasional weeknight and weekend
workshop/special events delivery.
