Nature & Scope
Trade Works is a 52-week employment and training initiative designed to provide
Construction Craft Worker (CCW)
training to
up to 56 participants
in four cohorts.Cohort 1-3 is located in Kamloops, BC and Clearwater, BC. The project supports participants in gaining essential skills, certifications, and hands-on experience to transition into employment within the construction sector. This position has the primary responsibility for recruitment of participants, assessment and intake, supporting participants during the training, securing, supporting participants during a 2-week job placement, and providing follow-up support. This position will be working with Work BC for direct referrals. Furthermore, this position includes community outreach in order to recruit participants, develop strong professional networks in the local community with various community service providers, and the employer/business community. A strong understanding of supporting individuals with complex needs to achieve attachment to the labour market. This position will support participants located in the Kamloops region for 3 cohorts and 1 cohort in Clearwater.
Major Responsibilities

in this position, you will:
Initiates and maintains on-going contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement
Makes cold calls to potential employers
Maintains contact with employers during the participants' employment and reports results to appropriate staff
Coordinates and supports job placements for program participants
Locates jobs for participants who have successfully completed training programs
Provides labour market and community resource information
Researches internet, agencies, and other resources for job leads
Develops and executes creative outreach strategies to recruit program participants
Provides coverage for facilitation and delivery of employment workshops
Monitors participant performance on the job and supports participants when job performance is not satisfactory; works with participants to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills, or reviews other employment options
Prepares forms and reports related to placement activities
Tracks participant activity and progress data
Matches job skills with applicant qualifications
Travels across Kamloops and Clearwater
Qualification

you bring:
Post-Secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
Experience working with youth or persons facing barriers due to complex needs.
CDP or related certification is an asset
Experience with developing and facilitating community-based programming and services
Strong facilitation skills with proven experience in developing curriculum in life, employability and computer skills within an employment program setting
Awareness of local youth resources and willingness to develop community supports
Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in high demand environment
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Computer proficiency - Adobe, DocuSign, Salesforce and Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook and SharePoint
High degree of independence and initiative within a team environment
Proven responsibility to coordinate tasks and work as part of a team
Emergency First Aid/CPR-C Certificate required, can be obtained within 30 days of start date
Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
