Position Summary

Temporary Full-Time Appendix D Support Staff, replacement contract position (Immediate need - December 24, 2025, with the possibility of extension)
Under the direction of the Program Manager and in compliance with the funded program guidelines and college policies, the Career & Work Coach/Employer Liaison assists multi-barriered, unemployed, and underemployed workers. This role helps individuals explore, access, and retain employment opportunities, as well as initiate, develop, and secure direct employment, meaningful work experiences, and training placements for clients.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with one day on-site in Elmira (Monday), two days on-site at 332 Marsland Drive in Waterloo (Tuesday and Wednesday) and two days remote (Thursday and Friday). Travel throughout Waterloo Region will be required. Some evening work may be required.
Responsibilities

Collaborate with clients, employers and the Conestoga Career Centre team to develop and monitor individualized employment service plans
Conduct interviews and assessments to guide clients in exploring career, employment and training goals
Direct clients to services to achieve successful outcomes
Identify suitable activities, supports and incentives to help clients achieve employment goals
Develop supportive, strategic relationships with employers
Assess and negotiate to secure employment, work experience and training placements for unemployed clients
Assess employer needs and promote the benefits of participating in Career Centre programs
Record and report confidential information in an accurate, complete, and timely manner
Market the services available through the Conestoga Career Centre to industry, community, and business associations to build effective relationships for referrals and resources to increase client employability and minimize stability issues
Organize and participate in community activities such as job fairs, trade shows, and employer networking opportunities to develop, maintain and enhance relationships with industry, business, Ministry of Labour Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) local apprenticeship office, and other community employment and training providers
Facilitate workshops and activities as part of an action plan to address challenges in reaching employment goals
Monitor and adjust plans accordingly through solution-focused approaches
Qualifications
------------------
Three-year diploma or degree in social sciences, business or a related field is required
Minimum of two years' experience as an employment case manager, developing and implementing individualized employment service plans for employment-disadvantaged customers requiring career planning or job search assistance is required
Demonstrated experience conducting and participating in employer research, job fairs, and other related employer-focused events to identify target markets and outreach opportunities
Ability to develop marketing leads to support employment goals for job seekers
Proven track record for positive employment and training outcomes
Effective group facilitation skills and techniques in a "life skills format"
Demonstrated proficiency in researching, computer use, and social media tools
Flexible and creative approach to problem-solving and multi-tasking; able to adapt to change
Awareness of programs and services in the community
Ability to work independently and as part of a service team
Excellent communication, high level of diplomacy, tact, and professionalism
Strong facilitation, advocacy, negotiation, and critical thinking skills
Ability to use non-violent crisis intervention and conflict resolution
Access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple locations
