NAIT's Academic Advising and Career Services team is seeking a dynamic and collaborative

Career and Employment Liaison

to lead career development and employment initiatives that support student career readiness and successful transitions into the workforce.




Reporting to the Supervisor, Academic Advising and Career Services, this role acts as a key connector between students, industry partners, academic programs, and internal departments--creating meaningful engagement and recruitment opportunities.




As the Career and Employment Liaison, you'll use your organizational strengths to coordinate events, liaise with employers, and create opportunities for students to connect with professionals and build essential career skills. You'll also advise employers on best practices for hiring students and alumni.




This position works closely with the broader Student Life team, Work Integrated Learning, Office of Apprenticeship, Advancement, and other stakeholders on collaborative projects and special initiatives. Independence, initiative, and strong communication skills are essential for managing tasks such as project coordination, employer outreach, report writing, and oversight of the online student job board.




Key Responsibilities:



In coordination with internal stakeholders and employer partners, lead planning activities for the preparation and execution of on-campus recruitment events (e.g. Hiring Fairs, Employer Information Sessions, etc.): event design, scheduling venues, parking, marketing and promotions, audiovisual requirements, catering arrangements, volunteer recruitment, invoicing and post-event reporting for assigned events. Central point of contact for employer services across campus; acts as a liaison between program areas, advancement, students and prospective employers. Manage employer registrations and job postings to ensure they meet appropriate standards. Maintain accurate and current content on the NAIT Employer Services and Student Employment webpages. Offer troubleshooting solutions to expedite each Symplicity user's situation/concern when accessing the site (i.e. Login ID issues, career posting problems). Work closely with the team to develop and facilitate career development workshops and advising activities. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to find innovative solutions to market Employer Services, including Symplicity, to external and internal stakeholders. Maintain positive and ongoing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to create and foster long term engagement with NAIT and our students. Carry out additional project priorities as required. Examples of projects include: Symplicity audit, data analytics or website updates for Employer Services/Student Employment. Summarize attendee event success through metrics including surveys, electronic registration, and student feedback. Compile career posting statistics and employer lists for reporting purposes.

Skills & Abilities:



Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to engage diverse audiences including students, alumni, internal teams, and external stakeholders. Demonstrates adaptability and professionalism in collaborative environments. Event & Project Management: Proven experience in event planning, with strong organizational and time management skills to handle overlapping projects and meet deadlines. Human Resources: General awareness of appropriate hiring practices and effective job posting creation are fundamental. Attention to Detail: High accuracy in proofreading, updating, and creating documents to support stewardship and operational activities. Technical Proficiency: Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with marketing and communication strategies. Proficient in the use of Symplicity (NAIT's Student Employment Career Posting System) or Orbis. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, discretion, and well-developed problem-solving abilities. Career Development Knowledge: Strong understanding of career theories, student development models, and support services. Stakeholder Engagement: Strong business acumen with the ability to build and maintain rapport across multiple stakeholder groups. Institutional Knowledge (would be an asset): In-depth understanding of NAIT's programs, policies, services, and the strategic objectives of Employer Services.

Qualifications:



Post-secondary diploma, degree preferred (with a focus in business, marketing or communications). 3-5 years of related professional work experience. Flexibility to work outside normal working hours or extended hours at varying times of the year. Ability to deal with a work environment based on an open area concept. Ability to manage a heavy workload and withstand high noise levels (event-based, not ongoing). Equivalencies may be considered.


Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).




Remuneration

: $61,997.52 - $83,085.08 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Coordinator l).



This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
