Job purpose


The Employee Relations Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the Employee Relations function by helping develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures that promote a positive work environment. This role is responsible for investigating workplace disputes, coordinating grievance procedures, and addressing employee complaints and concerns in a fair and consistent manner.

Duties and Responsibilities


The associate's primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:
Lead and manage the investigation process for employee complaints, grievances, and workplace conflicts, ensuring comprehensive assessments in alignment with company policies and legal requirements. Coordinate and schedule grievance hearings, disciplinary meetings, and other employee relations sessions to ensure timely and effective resolution of issues. Conduct one-on-one meetings with employees to address concerns, offer support, and facilitate fair and prompt resolutions. Monitor compliance with labour laws, workplace policies, and safety regulations, and escalate any issues as necessary. Partner with the Employee Relations Manager on matters related to employee discipline, grievance handling, and associated administrative processes. Maintain and manage systems to track employee satisfaction, grievances, feedback, and engagement surveys. Oversee the employee suggestion process and ensure feedback is effectively communicated and actioned through the Employee Relations Specialist. Support the development and enhancement of policies and procedures related to employee conduct, workplace behaviour, conflict resolution, and sensitivity. Deliver training sessions to managers and supervisors focused on the sensitive aspects of employee relations and effective issue resolution. Conduct regular floor tours to maintain visibility, engage with employees, and proactively address any concerns. Monitor action plans, ensure timely updates are communicated to employees, and review progress in collaboration with the Employee Relations Specialist. Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the Employee Relations Manager on emerging trends, risks, and opportunities to strengthen employee engagement and workplace culture. Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success. Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company Procedures. Approve the vacation requests. Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure. Issue disciplinary action when needed. Perform other assigned duties. Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations. Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines. Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, complemented by certification in Labour Relations, Conflict Resolution, or a related field. Strong knowledge of the Labour Relations Act, negotiation processes, relevant sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Employment Standards Act, and other applicable legislation and case law. Solid understanding of Labour Relations Board procedures and processes. Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to develop creative and effective solutions to complex labour relations and employment matters. Strong oral and written communication. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
