:Wood is currently seeking an experienced Indigenous Relations Coordinator to join our Metals and Minerals team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and who will be critical to support Wood\'s Indigenous engagement, investment and partnership strategy, and diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Wood Indigenous strategy team and will be responsible to provide advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, and to liaise with Indigenous communities and businesses, and other external stakeholders with interest in Wood projects. This position is expected to be a 1 year contract with possibility of extension.Wood is one of Canada\'s longest standing engineering firms with roots dating back to 1907 with a presence in Saskatchewan for over 60 years - The Saskatoon office is the Potash Centre of Excellence and leaders in uranium, lithium and other base metals with multi-discipline expertise leading sustaining capital and all phases of projects from concept studies up to large scale EPCM projects.Come join the elite Wood team!!Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Wood Indigenous Strategy and Program Team and across all functions of the organization including our People & Organization teams, stakeholders, leaders, and workforce to influence and effect positive change that supports Wood\'s continued journey toward an inclusive, diverse and unbiased workplace.
  • Participate in Wood\'s Indigenous relations strategies working alongside other Business Units to ensure consistency in approach and continuous advancement towards reconciliation, including short and long-range planning, establishing Indigenous related priorities, and identifying business opportunities with Indigenous groups.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of internal processes for collection and reporting of Indigenous-related data, plans and initiatives including maintaining a listing of key contacts within the Indigenous communities.
  • Support our pursuit in progressing, completing, and maintaining Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) Program
  • Support and provide expert advice to the Wood teams for better understanding of Indigenous history, culture, opportunities, and concerns and to support them to develop effective, respectful, and sustainable relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and businesses, to develop an understanding of their needs, priorities and activities.
  • Research available resources and educational materials or create this material as required.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of events and initiatives for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of employee engagement and retention initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Act as a liaison for Wood with Indigenous communities to build and maintain strong relationships, and meaningful and mutually beneficial partnerships between Wood and Indigenous leadership, communities, and businesses and coordinate between Wood leadership and project teams, and the respective community leadership.
  • Assist in building formal partnerships with Indigenous communities to assist in economic reconciliation.
  • Identify, track, and monitor issues, concerns, and interests identified by Indigenous groups and work with the team towards resolution.
  • Engage directly with clients on their Indigenous strategies and expectations.
  • Work closely with Wood legal and commercial teams on agreements and partnerships and supporting negotiations, as required.
  • Provide input to proposal development related to Indigenous strategy and engagement.
  • Travel within Saskatchewan and to other provinces may be required.
  • Perform other related duties, as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2-4 years of work experience related to Indigenous Relations, and/or Diversity, Equity & Inclusion experience.
  • Experience executing the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business\' Progressive Aboriginals Relation (PAR) Program
  • Experience in creating strategies and executing change while prioritizing collaboration and business partnerships throughout the organization.
  • Experience in supporting training and development initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of the history, culture, important matters, and ongoing reconciliation efforts of Indigenous Peoples in Saskatchewan and/or other jurisdictions in Canada, including Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) and Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action.
  • Significant understanding and awareness of Indigenous communities, their unique histories and culture and appropriate protocols and procedures for engagement
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities, governments, organizations, and stakeholders.
  • A willingness to proactively meet Indigenous communities and client needs and travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Knowledge of the evolving political and regulatory landscape in Saskatchewan
  • Experience in negotiating and executing agreements (IBAs, MOUs, etc.) is a significant asset.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team to achieve results.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of software
