The Department
The Emergency Services Department offers the Emergency medical Responder (EMR) and Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) certificate programs and is housed within the state of the art Health Education Centre located inside Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH).
The Role
The Emergency Services Department is seeking a Full-Time Tenure-Track Instructor to develop, deliver, and maintain content, support student placements, and facilitate hands-on lab instruction for the EMR and PCP programs.

Job Requirements
We are seeking candidates for the position who hold a Primary Care Paramedic Certificate and who are registered with a current practice permit and in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics. Additionally, candidates must have at least two years of full-time experience in paramedic practice, and previous experience in EMS education is highly desired. Holding an Advanced Care Paramedic Diploma will be considered an asset, but is not a requirement for the position.
Ideal candidates will embody professionalism and possess a positive attitude towards education. They should demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with students. Candidates should be capable of working both independently and collaboratively with colleagues and exhibit self-direction and motivation.
Successful candidates will have the ability to provide guidance and direction to others, as well as demonstrate creativity in problem-solving. A strong awareness of the goals and vision of Northwestern Polytechnic and EMS education is essential.
Candidates would ideally possess the following:
Basic Cardiac Life Support instructor
Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor
Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructor
International Trauma Life Support instructor
Neonatal Resuscitation Program instructor
First Responder Mental Health instructor
Development and delivery of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE)
Operating High-fidelity manikins and scenario development
Operating simulation management systems
Proficient with learning management systems and online instruction
Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office, Zoom, Teams, and Outlook
Candidates selected for an interview must provide their registration practice permit and all relevant certificates. The interview process will include a panel questioning session and a "teaching" segment. During this teaching session, candidates will be required to deliver a concise visual presentation on an EMS skill, to be revealed upon contact for an interview, and the presentation should be supported by documentation or handouts that would typically be provided to students. All supplies will be provided for the demonstration, and all candidates will be expected to demonstrate the EMS skill during the interview. Following the demonstration, candidates should be prepared to respond to questions related to the showcased skill.
Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening.
