Amsted Canada has established a new Business Center in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We are elevating our Global Technology teams in several areas including but not limited to Engineering, Cybersecurity, Development, Infrastructure, Emerging Technology, and SAP. We are also expanding our Shared Services Support (HR, Payroll, AP/AR, and Finance). These teams are instrumental in providing support to all Amsted affiliate locations worldwide.

Position Details

The Embedded Software Engineer within our eMobility group will be responsible for the design, development, and embedded system architecture of eMobility solutions utilizing the ConMet PreSet Plus\xc2\xae Electric Hub (e-Hub). This position is responsible for the strategy and implementation of embedded software specific to high voltage traction motor optimization, auxiliary power distribution, HV safety system, user interface, and overall development of the vehicle supervisory control system.

  • Vehicle level supervisory controls and management in the real-time/embedded environment
  • Planning, analysis, design, coding, testing of real-time/embedded and distributed systems in automotive domain
  • System, Software, Hardware, Development and Verification using embedded automotive software specific tools and methodologies
  • Hands-on experience in development compilers and low-level drivers development for microcontrollers
  • Embedded code design and development, new feature/solution investigations, developing interfaces and their definitions
  • Maintains awareness of the relevance and importance of activities and how each contributes to achieving quality objectives. Understands the importance of ensuring customer quality standards are met. Responsibilities may include the selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives and related training, corrective and preventive actions, product design and development, capacity analysis, logistics information, customer scorecards, and customer portals.

Key Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Engineering (Note: ideal majors include Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer, or another applicable engineering or technical field)
  • Minimum 3+ years of applicable Embedded Engineering work experience
  • Low-level programming and hardware driver development for sensors or other hardware components
  • Experience with embedded C and assembly programming languages, embedded compilers
  • CAN, J1939 and UDS protocol development
  • Experience with Git and Jira
  • System level embedded software integration
  • Experience in development of application development like Diagnostics
  • Experience with ISO 26262
  • HMI/GUI software development
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) experience desirable
  • Experience with high voltage battery management systems and/or traction inverter
