About Electra Battery Materials



Electra is planning to build North America's only fully integrated, localized and environmentally sustainable battery materials complex. Electra has recently signed a term sheet with the Ontario government for a $17.5 million loan which is part of a $100 million cobalt refinery investment, that includes a US$30 million brokered private placement. As part of the $100 million investment, Electra also received $20 million from the U.S. Department of Defense to advance its battery materials complex, and an LOI from the Canadian Federal government for $20 million. Together, these strategic financings provide critical support for the completion of Electra's Battery Materials Park and long-term growth. Leveraging the company's own mining assets and business partners, the Electra Battery Materials Park will host a cobalt sulfate plant with plans to build a nickel sulfate plant and a large-scale lithium-ion battery recycling facility. Electra's focus will be to supply the North American Electric Vehicle market with battery materials to support the manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries within North America. Electra Battery Materials is an integral part of the North American battery supply chain, providing low-carbon, sustainable and traceable raw materials for the region's fast growing electric vehicle industry.

Responsibilities



Below is a list of primary duties and responsibilities for the Electrician position at the Cobalt Refinery:

Calibrating, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing process instruments as a part of plant maintenance program; Repair and tune various types of controllers associated with process electrical and instrumentation; Assist in removal and installation of, perform calibration and repairs to pneumatic and electric actuated control valves; Work in compliance with prescribed safety and environmental laws and regulations; Be proactive with company safety initiatives; Perform corrective and preventative maintenance activities on electrical and instrumentation in operating units during daily operations equipment turnarounds, and projects; Execute critical test procedures on instrumented protective functions; Troubleshoot equipment failures; analyze process conditions and impacts in order to recommend improvements for chronic reliability problems; Assembling, maintaining, evaluating and testing electrical or electrical writing, equipment and appliances; Assist Operations in isolation and lock-out activities upon request; Commissioning of new equipment as required; Red Line Controlled Documents relating to IEC as required; Partake in JSAs, Hazops and project design reviews, reviews as required; Reading and interpreting electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams and schematics; Respond quickly to all service requests and efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical systems; Perform scheduled preventative maintenance work, complete test and maintenance reports, read circuit diagrams, logical approach for troubleshooting; Work in a manner that improves and enhances teamwork, plant organization and efficiency; Routine testing of critical electrical and instrument systems and associated equipment; Maintain equipment calibration and repair documentation; and, Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications



High school diploma, complimented by post-secondary education in Electrical field; Certified or working towards 309A Red Seal Construction and Maintenance Electrician designation is an asset; Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience; Strong understanding of electrical components related to conventional mining equipment such as conveyors, pumps, crushers, grinding mills, screens, hydraulics and pneumatics; Electrical experience in an industrial environment is an asset; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Innovative problem-solving skills and ability to take calculated risks to improve operating efficiencies applied to revenue generation and cost containment; Strong communication skills including good written composition and presentation of ideas and concepts; and, High level of computer literacy in MS Windows and MS Office applications.
