The Electrical Foreman constructs assigned projects from an Electrical Installation & Process perspective. Serve as a \'conduit\' of Vision and Information from Top-Management through to Front/Field-Line Employees. Facilitate full-Team Collaboration towards The Big Picture to become the greatest Team in our Industry.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People Leadership

Demonstrates strong, competent leadership for team members to guide them in reaching their full potential and meeting their objectives, which supports achievement of our corporate goals. Specifically, these responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Full involvement with recruiting talent
  • Provides mentoring, coaching and guidance to all team members
  • Objectively recommends compensation adjustments
  • Manages all aspects of performance
Construction Productivity Leadership Tasks
  • Ability to monitor the financial (labour and material) and physical performance activities of the Assigned Projects.
  • Electrical Foreman is proven to be a highly experienced control electrician and extremely capable of performing all aspects of installation with a high degree of competency.
  • Proven capability to pull permits under the Electrical Construction Managers Electrical Master\'s License and ensure all work performed on Assigned Projects is performed to the highest standards and meets all electrical code requirements, including the timely scheduling of ESA inspections and assurance that all inspections will result in approval causing no delays or rework.
  • Electrical Foreman has proven his ability to manage his field project leader duties with his installation duties to best serve the requirement for an efficient, high quality installation.
  • Ability to work primarily in the field as electrical installation project leader in developing work schedules and labour forecasts on a daily/weekly/monthly basis for Assigned Projects.
  • Ability to lead the front line of the electrical installation on all Assigned Projects. Keep the Electrical Construction Manager informed while maintaining construction schedules, and key project delivery leads times including but not limited to, materials orders, commissioning meetings, programming delivery dates, change notices, required red line drawing and point mix updates, commissioning and completion deadlines.
  • Proven understanding of the operation of PM Web and ability to utilize PM Web in the day to day reporting of job progress.
  • Ability to adopt and monitor professional/business-like standards of personal grooming and dress standards for all Electrical Division employees assigned to your projects. Report Non-Compliance to the Electrical Construction Manager.
  • Ability to identify and implement time saving strategies that reduce travel time, labour and material on Assigned Projects and time spent picking up supplies.
  • Ability to review all project specifications and understand our contractual scope of work. Ensure that our forces only perform work within our scope and that verbal or written RFI\'s based on instruction from the Electrical Construction Manager are prepared for all work perceived outside of our scope and are forwarded to the attention of our client and cc\'d to the Electrical Construction Manager and approved before starting.
  • Proven capable to be involved in material selection for installation and repair projects to ensure accurate and cost-effective material orders.
  • Proven capable to respond to customer requests at the field electrician level. Attend project meetings as required to ensure BGIS ITS\'s cooperation with other trades and the other trades cooperation with BGIS ITS in completing projects in the most efficient manner possible. Prepare accurate reports of all customer interactions and meetings and submit to Electrical Construction Manager. (All Reports to be prepared in Project Tracker unless advised otherwise)
  • Ability to identify field sales opportunities with our customers and prepare RFI\'s and/or other appropriate document for submission direct to the customer and appropriately file documents and cc the Electrical Construction Manager.
  • Ability to mentor and train our electricians and apprentices on technical knowledge, customer services skills, proper record keeping and preparation of customer service reports, PM Web and other paperwork that is a part of their responsibility.
  • Ability to mentor electricians/apprentices in correct and efficient installation procedures, including measuring up and ordering materials to help avoid time consuming and costly trips to suppliers.
  • Ability to provide training and ensure compliance by all electricians on Assigned Projects in the preparation of project Redline updates and other company reports in PM Web.
  • Ability to be responsible for the overall quality of the services provided to our customers in the field on Assigned Projects. Proven to be knowledgeable on all Company offerings and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven to be aware of any opportunities for us to provide additional products and services to our customers.
  • Ability to respond to customer concerns or requests promptly in accordance with company policy and advise the Electrical Construction Manager of any situations beyond your scope of authority, to ensure lasting goodwill between the customers and BGIS ITS.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with all company policies, health & safety requirements, identification, reporting and addressing risks to health and safety in the workplace.
  • Proven to be familiar with the rules and safety programs applicable to our work activities. Follow prescribed health and safety procedures and mentor other electricians in safety procedures and hazard recognition.
  • Proven to have a strong understanding of electrical code an able to apply ESA standards to every project through supervision.
  • Proven ability to complete projects on time and within budget. This includes initial project layouts, identifying milestones within the project thru to the completion of the project.
  • Proven to have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor multiple team members over numerous projects.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Minimum Qualifications
  • Certificate of Qualification - Construction and Maintenance Electrician.
  • ESA Electrical Masters License
  • Actively pursuing CCI certificates towards Gold Seal Certification.
  • Understanding, practicing and actively pursuing skill development in Motivational Leadership Techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with employees, clients and contractors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to work in a process driven environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems (Has attended industry training courses and /or has extensive field experience).
  • Extensive knowledge of BAS system installation and design (Has attended industry training courses and /or has extensive field experience).
  • Extensive knowledge of network wiring standards and protocols. (Has attended industry training courses and /or has extensive field experience).
Top Wage Qualifications
  • Construction Electrical Technician Diploma.
  • Gold Seal Certification Under The Canadian Construction Association or Project Management Certification Under the Project Management Institute
  • Proven ability to effectively lead a minimum of 14 employees.
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
  • Certificate of Qualification - Construction and Maintenance Electrician.
