Join us.AECOM\'s Transit and Rail Signals group is seeking an Electrical Intern - Rail Signals to work with our Canadian Signals & Communications Team. The position is open for immediate employment based out of AECOM\'s Calgary, Alberta office. This internship is available for 4 to 8 months (can be flexible).This will be a full-time temporary position starting as soon as possible.Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
  • Assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study
  • Provide engineering, technical, and management support to the Freight Rail and Transit Signals and Communications Group.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals, design packages, and tender documentation.
  • Embrace project management principles and provide support to PMs.
  • Assist with preparation of design drawings for transit and freight rail signal systems that meet client and AECOM quality standards.
  • Produce plan sets including the filing and archiving of drawings and assists with quality reviews before drawings are released.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering, or a Technical Diploma (Electrical or Software preferred)
  • Must have completed their first year of study
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some skill in utilizing 2D AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and an interest in growing that skill.
  • Related transportation and/or electrical/software experience.
  • Team player who is willing to take ownership of assigned work with ability to establish and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Demonstrates analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities.
  • Works independently with general guidance except for complex and unusual situations.
  • Proficient in Excel (experience with macros an asset)
  • Basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls Hardware & Software.
  • Basic understanding of Relay logic.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and willingness to get involved in planning, design, and construction as projects dictate.
  • Willingness for field work and travel
