We are seeking a highly motivated electrical engineer to pursue a
Master of Applied Science (MASc) or PhD
degree at UBC, contributing to cutting-edge projects in collaboration with a high-tech industry partner. The research focuses on designing, controlling, and optimizing renewable energy and energy storage systems, advancing electrification infrastructure, prototyping and validating hardware, and integrating interdisciplinary components for efficient energy management.
Research Focus Areas:
Power electronics design for renewable energy systems, including solar and battery integration.
Development of control strategies for energy storage and load management systems.
Advanced DC infrastructure for high-efficiency energy distribution and EV charging.
Modeling and simulation of renewable energy systems to optimize performance.
Hardware prototyping, testing, and validation of energy management solutions.
Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical and software components into advanced energy solutions.
Eligibility and Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor/ Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
Industrial working experience is preferable: hands-on experience with embedded systems programming, hardware prototyping, and/or PCB design.
Strong foundation in electrical and electronic circuit design, software/ firmware programming, and/ or renewable energy technologies.
Excellent academic record and strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research-intensive environment.
