Job Description

PURPOSE



The Electrical & Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical, control, and automation systems in support of the company's mining operations. This role ensures reliable power distribution, system efficiency, and the deployment of smart mining and automation technologies. The engineer will play a key role in the company's transition to intelligent mining operations, contributing to process optimization, cost efficiency, and operational safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS



Electrical Systems & Maintenance:



Design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems, equipment, and machinery used in mining operations.

Ensure power distribution, control systems, and electrical safety compliance across all mining facilities.

Monitor and maintain backup power systems, transformers, motors, and other critical electrical equipment.

Automation & Intelligent Mining:



Design, implement, and optimize automation and control systems to support intelligent mining operations.

Collaborate with operations teams to implement predictive maintenance, process automation, and digital mining solutions.

Project Design & Implementation:



Participate in planning and executing electrical and automation projects, ensuring alignment with production goals and budget.

Conduct feasibility studies, system design, and cost analysis for electrical and automation projects.

Ensure that installation and commissioning activities follow industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.

Safety & Compliance:



Ensure all electrical and automation systems comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.

Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and preventive maintenance planning.

Collaboration & Reporting:



Work closely with mining, mechanical, and IT teams to implement integrated solutions for intelligent mining.

Prepare reports, technical documentation, and performance analysis for senior management.

Assist in training operations staff on electrical and automated systems.

QUALIFICATIONS



Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field. No prior work experience required; internship or project experience in electrical or automation systems is a plus. Basic understanding of electrical circuits, power distribution, and industrial automation concepts. Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, or sensor-based systems is an advantage but not mandatory. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and learning skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Passion for technology, automation, and innovation in mining operations.

Pay: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
