Job Description

Reports To: Health & Safety Manager

Location: Greater Toronto Area (Hybrid)

Position Summary: The Environmental and Health & Safety ("EHS") Program Coordinator is responsible for the administration and implementation of training initiatives as assigned by the Health & Safety Manager and Senior Director, EHS.

Responsibilities:

Project Coordination

  • Coordinates with external training providers on an as-needed basis;
  • Assists Operations, Regional and Corporate teams in scheduling third-party EHS-related training;
  • Ensures EHS projects are properly budgeted, purchase order, and invoices are correctly processed;
  • Support / coordinate scheduling of meetings;
  • Carries out EHS audits onsite, as needed;
  • Completes hazard and risk assessments onsite;
  • Acts as an ambassador of the EHS department; and
  • Provides administrative assistance to the EHS department, including PO creation and project coordination, as required
Compliance
  • Maintains an inventory of training compliance documents;
  • Participates in all Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings, takes minutes and prepares documentation;
  • Conducts workplace inspection, as needed;
  • Prepares/updates monthly, quarterly and annual reports, as directed; and,
  • Prepares, maintains and manages all departmental records in CAPREIT's Learning Management System
Training
  • Responsible for the organization and coordination of internal EHS training initiatives;
  • Assesses new and existing employees' skills and identifies additional training needs;
  • Works with the Health & Safety Manager, Senior Director, EHS, and EHS team on input and/or leads in the creation of training material;
  • Revises training documentation as needed to reduce errors and improve internal processes;
  • Updates presentations, e-learning content and microlearning videos, as requested;
  • Attends scheduled "Train the Trainer" and other pertinent training sessions as required, including first aid;
  • Assists to facilitate EHS-related training nationwide (i.e. occupational health and safety, hazardous materials, environmental, emergency preparedness tabletop exercises, etc.);
  • Provides feedback to EHS department on training and systems issues;
  • Handles logistics for training activities, including shipping, venues, IT setup and equipment; and,
  • Communicates effectively with internal staff and vendors
Skills & Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of training and/or occupational health and safety experience
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in occupational health and safety preferred
  • French bilingualism is a requirement
  • Familiarity with SAP and SAP Success Factors LMS is an asset
  • Familiarity with Articulate and instructional design is an asset
  • Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor certification (or willingness to obtain certification)
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and oral
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Friendly, outgoing, and personable attitude
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and organized
  • Training experience in corporate and/or operations environment is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and videoconferencing software
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Willingness to travel
Working Conditions:
  • Frequent travel across Canada
  • Combination of remote and in-office environments
  • Available to be on call as part of emergency response
  • High sensitivity to timelines with moderate overtime required from time to time
